How do we fix the artificial borders of North America?

Anyone who has looked at north America's borders including it seems Brits knows our borders are highly artificial.

While this video is mostly focus on the environmental effects of the poor division.

The way politician drew the state borders hundreds of years ago in ignorance or apathy about the nature of the land in the area has created a lot of problems. In the sentries since for the people living there.

The question is how do we fix it?

I agree a reorganization would be a GREAT idea cuz some of not most of it is a stupid anachronism.

Finish the wall. Impose wait in Mexico policies. Fine companies that hire illegal aliens into oblivion. Provide no welfare benefits for illegal aliens and deport , deport, deport.

It depends, independent states tend to negotiate their borders based upon the power balance between them, and then only among the elite who run each state at the time.

This is how the U. S. / Canada border got settled except it was between the Eastern U. S. and the United Kingdom who knew and cared a lot less about the issue and mostly just wanting Vancouver island for their navy.

Member states however only get a say once they are established as member-states. Otherwise congress just drew the line for them with little concern, hence modern disputes like the Greater Idaho movement.

That is trying to effectively moving the Oregon border to the natural border of the Cascade mountain range. Thus letting the dryer mountainous eastern lands be governed by more similarly situated state under laws that makes more sense for the geographic and economic reality of the land.

This was pointed out to congress at the time to be an issue by locals but congress ignored it in favor of their own schemes.

In cases of an existing state with representation they tend to win, such as the case between the state of Ohio and Michigan which was a territory at the time over the Toledo strip. Which remains a point of contention to this day.

I commented before I realized that there was a video. Sorry.
After watching the video, I have to say that I understand and agree with what she was saying. I actually love the idea.

I have no idea how to accomplish it, though. People in power would never agree. They are interested in monopolizing resources for profit, not helping nature and people to thrive. Politicians would have to surrender their little kingdoms. And it would require a tremendous amount of education to convince the populace to support such an idea. We couldn't rely upon government or media to do the educating. Plus, a lot of people are really stupid and easily brainwashed. They would think this was just another crazy, tree-hugging conspiracy theory.

She focused on northwestern North America, but artificial borders have been drawn all over the world by imperialist powers. Look at the Middle East for just one example.
