I often fear that cult members might befriend my kids and indoctrinate them. In your view what’s the best solution to protect yourself and kids from these insidious groups?
Isn't that part of the civics or ethics curriculum? At least from what I remember we spoke about cults and sects in several classes. Also our state district offices and townhalls (not sure about American administration structure) always had information brochures about various dangerous organizations (Scientology, Islamic groups, the Foreign Legion...).
Having a good relationship with your kids where they openly share things with you is the best way to go. Establish early on that your open and that thoughts and experiences are being exchanged. Has to be the most normal thing in the world and then you will know what your kids are doing.
Teach your kids soon as possible that humanity is shit and everything they will be taught in the school or somewhere else is often a lie or half truth and should never be taken seriously unless it's useful to their current interest. Use it but never take it, if you don't need it.

Provide a welcoming home life for your kids. My cousin was in the Moonies when he was younger He had a really non existent home life. His parents were wealthy so they went away to summer camp and his fargmher was always working. He filled the gap with a cult
yes, this kid had a trust fund and I remember his father getting a lawyer to make sure my cousin could not get his hands on it because he would have given the whole thing to the Moonies.
I have warned my older stepson about the dangers of cults, high demand religion and religion in general. He only has sports, drinking, parties and sex on his mind. I think he’s safe from their bullshit lol 😂

You read this site, you'll hear it over and over. You cannot hover over your kids, but you can train them. Being aware of others and the bigger questions is good. Church is filled with sex by the way... I've never seen so many kids. We exposed our kid to church so they will explore some values... but it isn't crammed down their throats... else all they get is osmosis from alternate sources. Talk about cults... the junk walking around school..."bi" this, gay that... etc.. We expose to various wisdoms and truths and get them thinking. We talk a lot.
