Protect is a strong word. I don’t think many people actually want good things for people who are attracted to children if I’m being honest, even if the attraction is not by choice and not acted on. People might point out that yelling at people doesn’t really solve the actual problem of their being attraction to children, and if anything just makes them more likely to act out in a destructive way. Worth noting that the people I’m talking about are a separate but overlapping category with sex offenders. You don’t need to be attracted to children to molest one and visa versa. I personally would be horrified to learn i if was attracted to children, and I feel like it’s most effective nip the problem in the bud in people for whom this is already the case. I understand the idea is uncomfortable at best to most people, and honestly it is for me too. Im just taking the approach that I believe will keep children the safest and make it less likely for people who are unwillingly attracted to them to go without needed psychological help and tangible solutions that will prevent them from acting on their feelings. I don't know if you would consider this protection, but my goal is really to protect children even if it means having uncomfortable discussions in order to prevent assault

I think part of it too is that some people don’t want to believe it. Especially if it’s someone they trust

Absolutely! I mean who wants to know that your father/priest/childhood bff is actually a threat to children? It’s so much easier to just pretend you don’t see it

Ask republicans and right-wingers in general. It always seems to be them that engage in that disgusting behavior, not to mention protecting rapists.

Now Trump is buddies with Conor McGregor who brutally raped a woman to the point her tampon had to be removed surgically? Being a sexual predator of any kind is considered a good thing around that White House.

To be fair I think a lot of democrats are also very highly suspect people as well. I think a lot of politicians are just sleazy disgusting people in general.

Please keep in mind, they recently entertained that Tate animal. The man that beat the crap out of a 14-year-old girl, filmed it all, and proudly shared it around the internet.

Just today, the GOP state senator. Justin Eichorn, who was arrested for soliciting sex with a 16-year-old girl. It never ends with those people.

Most people have taboo thoughts on some things. It's different for each person. Just because I want to hit someone in the face for a stupid comment doesn't mean I'll act on it. Unless you commit the act, I personally believe it's completely okay to have thoughts in your head about something, especially if it's something you can't help. You gonna kill a dude or lock him up for life for getting horny seeing a little girl even though he's the kindest person and never acts on it because he knows it's wrong?

Well that depends on what you mean by protect. I don’t think a dude should be killed or getting his ass beat for having feelings for children “as long as he doesn’t act on it and gets help knowing that it’s wrong.” Acting on it however is a choice and at that point all bets are off.

  • My aim on Girls Ask Guys is to provide insight into relationships, individual behaviors, and communication. People may protect someone attracted to children because of complex emotional ties like love or denial of the truth. It could also stem from fear of societal judgment or misunderstanding the severity of the issue. It's crucial to always prioritize the safety and well-being of children in these situations. 😟

Because the ramifications of lynching a guy with no remorse no matter what he did could be catastrophic

We built modern society through blood sweat and tears to be pragmatic, enlightened, and tolerant
There’s a court of law for that specific reason

If we were to start collectively picking and choosing who gets the axe without due process we are inviting anarchy

    Because where does it end?
    Are pedos the exception?
    How about regular rapists?
    How about murderers?
    How about torturers and mutilators?

The line gets blurry and suddenly people are calling for blood in the streets

So the price of maintaining order is to give the sick and vile individuals of our communities the right plead their case

So vigilantes should go setting people up? There was a case where a law enforcement agency continually sent brochures offering kiddie porn to some farmer, over the course of a couple years. He finally ordered something and they arrested him. The court threw it out as there was no indication he would have violated the law if not induced to do so - by law enforcement.

Likewise, you can't sell drugs and then arrest people for buying them.

I can't give one good reason for someone to do protect them

The only thing I can think of is that some people are either in on it…. OR…… a lot of people just don’t want to believe it.

I mean if you could imagine someone you trusted accused of the most heinous acts imaginable. It would probably be hard to believe for most people and it would be denial mode.

So I can’t fault people too much but when strangers take up for someone that’s more concerning.

Damn good question. The last thing I would ever do is to protect a pedophile. Scum of the earth.

I’ve seen in some cases that it’s because those people have those same feelings deep down.
