In theory you are correct, money printing would devalue the USD and trigger inflation, that is far from being the only cause/explanation for inflation.

There are a lot of factors that lead to inflation, to simply say money printing was the cause is simplistic and inaccurate.

There is a section on the cause of inflation. Overprinting paper currency is not a common cause of inflation.

It might interest you to know the President doesn’t have centralized authority over the Fed, he has certain authorities to nominate key officials and make recommendations.

The decisions made regarding raising or lowering interest rates for example are outside the scope of the office of the president.

The Fed is known to be fiercely independent when it comes to partisan politics, staying clear of comments about anything that doesn’t directly involve banking or financial matters.

The office of the presidency is not like being crowned a king. There are checks and balances in place for good reason.

Having institutions like the Fed remain independent of partisan politics is critical.
