Not a fan of it for several different reasons.

One it takes away from the intention of their message even if that message was good. It's like a superhero that comes around and helps people but then extends his hand asking for a reward for his effort. A real hero doesn't do something right for the reward they do it because it is right.

Two I believe people who do it don't have guts to say something truly controversial or daring and instead say the safe approved viewpoint. It's like someone say Hitler was bad and expecting a round of applause for such an obvious statement. It's just eye rolling. Or when people scream f**k Trump despite being in a country that allows freedom of speech.

If they wanted to be daring maybe they would say something like maybe we should stop supporting and buying Apple products because they are made from child and slave labor in China a nation with actual concentration camps for their minority Muslim population in current day. Now that would carry some real potential risk if said and addressed on a main stage.

Third I don't like it because it gives some genuinely awful people an idea or shield from criticism and from being seen for what they really are. A person that believes well I vandalized property that ruined that family's local business, I screamed, cussed and even assaulted innocent bystanders, instead of raising support for my cause I demonized anyone who had even the slightest criticism towards it but I respect people's pronouns therefore I CAN'T be a bad person at all!

Or the other classic example of people doing it to manipulate people as well. Like male feminists who swear up and down they love women, aren't sexist and support their rights but once they meet a women who say is conservative or maybe just disagrees on a point like maybe they don't believe in abortion as their personal opinion. All of a sudden they get angry at this woman and lash out with some of the worst sexist language and vile insults ever (if they are so pro-feminist shouldn't those words be stricken from their vocabulary)? Plus ones that get mad like that if you look into their history have had run ins with the law for domestic violence against their girlfriends or former spouses. Thus, they weaponize virtue signaling as a way to get a bunch of people who agree with that point to defend them tooth and nail and overlook the terrible things they've done in their personal lives.

So in short I have never liked it actions speak louder then words and if you have to broadcast how good you truly are you are either misguided at best or manipulative and disingenuous at worst. in my opinion.

The only thing I dislike more than virtue signaling is those too dense to see it when it’s being done to them

I would much rather someone tells me the blunt and ugly truth not just a story where they’re the victim or the good guy

It makes it clear who you can trust, at least in the sense that when other people do it regarding certain subjects I learn what I can and can’t tell them because what they consider a moral good is one I don’t consider to be a moral good at all.

It's repulsive, and it's a big reason why the Democrats lost this election in such spectacular fashion. Americans are tired of the arrogance, condescension and projected moral superiority of Democrat party, all while they fail to meet the needs of most Americans.

Honestly, there are many situations where I get the  wrong feeling  when I hear virtue signalled. So, in truth, I consider it a hint that they are pretending, even unconsciously, instead of incarnating.

People do it it's not that big of a deal. Football jersey, bumper stickers, novelty t-shirts, ribbons for this that or another. Really don't think you can get any message out there without in your face forever to even start listening to it.
