His promise could be interpreted as doing it as soon as he has the power. Problem is, he has made it clear that he intends to end it by terminating aid to Ukraine, and with his infatuation with Putin, he will probably help Putin destroy Ukraine. And then he will work on destroying NATO, something he has mentioned many times, which will allow Putin to take over many other European countries, which he has clearly shown as his intention. Most of his supporters have fallen for the lie that he will not actually do the things he has threatened. Which proves how stupid his supporters are. He has already selected staff members and ambassadors who have made it clear that they will support his plans to tear the world apart. He already has appointed judges and supreme court justices who have been supporting his interpretations of what he can do and what parts of the constitution he can ignore. But the time his supporters wake up and see the damage he is doing, it will be too late to stop his destruction. And don't count on fixing things during the next election... he intends to make sure there will be no more elections, at least not as we know them. He might allow elections where the only candidates are MAGA felons like himself.
