He said he would end it straight away, so why hasn't he?

1 yWhat someone says is one thing & what they do is another & as for the war it could of been ended a long time if our previous president didn’t fully fund the war & unfortunately our current president hasn’t cut off all the funding yet. War is population control & right now I think that was the goal in mind in addition to cleaning our prisons.
If countries around the world keep funding the war it will continue until all the soldiers are gone or someone had the balls to drops a nuke.

Trump is busting his ass trying to come up with a just and lasting peace even though it looks like either Putin or Zelensky want to end the war.32 Reply- 1 y
No, that is just a Russian masturbatory fantasy. Russia already failed to achieve victory against Ukraine in the early stages of war when it lacked all support and was at its weakest while Russias army was at its peek. Today when Russia has degraded and Ukraine has built up its own forces, manufacturing and fortified front-lines this means Russia has even less of a chance to achieve victory.
Also this negotiation strategy is stupid. Cutting aid to Ukraine means that Ukraine becomes weaker. This does not make Russia more willing to seek peace but rather to increase the war effort to exploit this new weakness. Furthermore, Russia is the invader. They can stop the war at any time they want by just going back to internationally recognized Russia and pay the economic price for the damages they caused.

1 yHe has actually made a concerted effort to that end, but it’s ultimately not up to him alone. Short of starting world war three, all he can do is help with negotiations and apply economic sanctions to persuade Putin and Zelensky to knock it off. He’s done everything he can do. As is his way, he likely overestimated his influence.

Trump had hopes that he could reason with Putin, but Putin is a war monger and will not stop unless physically stopped or assassinated, by his own people..
Remember there were plots to assassinate Hitlerl !

No. While Trump had hopes that he could reason with Putin that had nothing to do with his claims that he would stop the war. He simply deduced that people were very receptive to these claims so he said it to gain support. Nothing more, nothing less.
On a side-note, its very telling that Trump considers his personal good relationships (if you could call it that) with Putin to mean that if they are both world leaders then that makes USA and Russia good friends too. That is obviously not how the relationships between nations works and demonstrates his lack of understanding of national governance.

The "Duties of president" is being a glorified figurehead. The president is not actually meant to do much of anything aside from being the face of the nation and signature on the bills that other people wrote and voted for. They are supposed to be the "rubber stamp" of USA.
Furthermore, presidents are political appointees. They are not elected for their talents in governing, as that part is expected to be assisted by.. what did you call them again? "unelected staff". You know, people who actually knows a thing or two about what they are doing rather than how to run a good popularity contest. - 1 y
No, you are the idiot. USA literally fought a war against having a king. The duties of the president, as outlined in the constitution, are as follows:
"Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States"
The president is not elected to be the "commander-in-chief" because they are the best commander in the army. They are there to serve as the symbolic representation of the people being above the institution of the military to try avoid such things as a military coup. In other words this is a primarily symbolic role that is not based on personal capabilities nor expectations of them doing anything with this theoretical power. AKA a glorified figurehead.
"The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America."
This basically gives the president some administrative within the federal government through such things as executive orders. However, this is heavily limited and is mostly useful in messaging rather than actually enacting change, which the court system is currently busy reminding Trump of right now. In other words, this is mostly a platform for the president to communicate with the government or the American people.. like a glorified figurehead.. - 1 y
"Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States: If he approve he shall sign it, but if not he shall return it, with his Objections to that House in which it shall have originated..." bla bla bla
Basically, every new legislation has to get the presidents signature OR overrule the presidents veto power by having a larger majority which means that the president does not actually have true power to stop a bill from passing outside of raising the requirements a bit. In other words, the president is functioning like a rubber stamp for new legislation with or without their consent.
"and [the President] shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States..." - 1 y
Basically the president appoints people to fill the federal government. You know the ones who actually runs the nation. Part of the "unelected staff" we were talking about previously. Importantly, most of these people do not have to follow the orders of the president and work independently after they are appointed. Since you know... the president is not the king. Almost like they are a figurehead of some sort? Strange.
Next is Executive clemency. Pardons and commuting federal crimes. Not important. Moving on
"In this vast external realm, with its important, complicated, delicate and manifold problems, the President alone has the power to speak or listen as a representative of the nation."
Basically the president is the nations glorified PR person when talking to other nations. You know, as a spokes person.. or a figurehead.. He also staffs the "marketing department" AKA diplomats and such.
And lastly, Executive privilege. Which is basically choosing what the American people should and should not be informed about. Because the president is primarily in charge of communication with the American people. Like a spokes person.. or a glorified figurehead. - 1 y
Yes and no. Again, its not a position that the president was meant to actually act in. The president is not an accomplished general. Having the president take charge would be like letting a toddler drive you around in your car. Simply put, the president is not actually qualified to be the commander in chief and they only hold that position in a symbolic role.

Do you think there is a path for any person that will automatically make you like them? How fickle are you? What would it take for the leader of HAMAs to become your best friend? Trump is 78 years old, if he wanted me to LIKE him then he should have started to make an effort a long ass fucking time ago.
And what do you mean that Biden was not in charge? The president is not in charge in the first place. You still think USA is a monarchy you idiot.
