Why haven't any Eu countries made an effort to negotiate with Putin regarding the Russia Ukraine war?

I’m no expert, but here’s how I see it: Putin has often said he doesn't want war with Europe. Given Russia's huge size and resources, invading Poland or Germany seems illogical. Yet, European countries stopped buying Russian gas and faced a major energy crisis, choosing hostility over diplomacy. I feel like this could have been settled through negotiation. What do you think about this situation?

There is a difference between PHONE DİPLOMACY and real negotiation. While the EU might have stabilized its position for now, it came at a massive cost to its own citizens. Making someone Feel Pain only works if you aren't hurting yourself more in the process. Isolation hasn't stopped the war, it has only deepened the crisis for everyone.

Reports show 66% of Russians want peace due to heavy losses. Meanwhile, the EU faces real de-industrialization and hight energy cost crises. Invading Europe is doesn't make sense for resource-rich Russia; this is a defense against NATO pressure. I think ultimately, it might also be that peace is stalled by the $12T in rare earth elements everyone wants to control.
