Why haven't any Eu countries made an effort to negotiate with Putin regarding the Russia Ukraine war?

The same reason Israel hasn't negotiated with the Palestinians to end the war.
Europe, like Israel, wants to steal land and resources - it doesn't want to negotiate. It only wants "ceasefires". During which it can rearm.
The problem Europe and Israel have is Iran's military technology. The Russians can scale it to numbers the USA military can only dream about.
Neither the USA, Europe or Israel have an answer to that scale.
A single missile costs millions to make, install and fire. Whereas the Irans and Russians can produce better gear, for a fraction of the cost. It's why neither wants to fuck with Russia, China or Iran directly.
Israel tried it and got spanked into last decade, within about a week. The USA and Europe don't want to make the same mistake, but are equally greedy bastards. So all are trying other methods.
The EU doesn't want to get in a war with Russia. They're satisfied helping Ukraine defend itself. Sanctions harm Russia, but won't cause Russia to attack; doing so will not remove the sanctions. Yes, sanctions cause some self-harm, but that can be handled.
There may be history at play also. For centuries, Ukraine territory has been part of Russia and the Soviet Union. Ukraine has only been independent since the USSR collapsed, less than 50 years ago. The rest of Europe has little to gain by negotiating peace in Ukraine with Putin.
Thanks for MHO
Russia is having real intention to attack NATO, and EU/NATO are defensive alliance.
Also we don't want to have nothing to do with the monsters of russians!

Putin is no more sophisticated than any school yard bully. Has appeasing school yard bullies ever worked? Did it work with Hitler? That is where Europe has landed.
Quite simply Putin doesn't care how many die. Neither does Xi. They only care about their autocratic legacy.
I'm a big fan of Alex Stubbs, President of Finland. Before he was elected President and after he ceased to be Prime Minister he used his extensive contacts to call Lavrov (Russian Foreign Minister) to beg him to stop the invasion. Lavrov replid "Oh sure I'll tell Putin to call it off".
Finland has extensive experience with appeasing Russia and Stubbs with negotiating the 2014 Russian invasion. Macron has notably gone from "We must not humiliate Putin" to be far more hardcore. So has Germany. Those EU countries nearest Russia are arming as fast as they can.
It has taken Europe quite a bit of time to realize Putin is demanding appeasement and negotiating won't work.
If Putin succeeds Xi will feel emboldened. So we will have a repeat in the Pacific.
@Bricealan I'd rather I wasn't but we do need to remember WWII.
Wow the stupidity inherent in this question is amazing. The EU energy embargo, along with other economic and political sanctions WERE the attempt to negotiate with Russia. If Putin wanted his economy back he could have backed out of his war of conquest in Ukraine at any time. You don't negotiate with a dictator like Putin by letting him have everything he wants and then beg him to please stop invading his neighbors. You negotiate with an autocrat like Putin by making him feel extreme pain and then trade normalizing relations and restoring his economy for getting out of Ukraine.
So now with your update you think the EU is hurting MORE than Russia? Not even close. Go educate yourself before you post more nonsense.
The Russian economy is in shambles. Putin can't afford to replace the equipment he has lost in Ukraine. Or the manpower. The EU and US is using Ukraine to fight a proxy war for NATO and degrade Putin's ability to even think about invading Europe in his lifetime. You really suck at strategic thinking and planning.
Hey, shut up... YOU SOUND LIKE ME! THAT IS A QUESTION I HAVE ASKED MYSELF OVER AND OVER AGAIN. My guess would be that they are too chicken hearted to even think about confronting Putin.
All it would take would be for the EU to confront Putin with a threat, of unilateral action from Europe as a united front, and that son of a bitch, would withdraw. That would of course involve moving men and war machines to the border of Ukraine, but alas, the EU is too weak kneed to do that, the same as Biden saying..."Don't' - like the halfwit HE IS
Putin has often said he doesn't want war with Europe.
Lies.
faced a major energy crisis
Another lie.
choosing hostility over diplomacy
A third lie.
I feel like this could have been settled through negotiation.
Yes it could have been if Ukraine had kept its nukes and bombers or joined NATO before 2014.
In a alternative history Ukraine and Russia would currently have normal relations and ukrainians would be considered unnecessarily paranoid.
Kinde imposible for Ukraine to join EU or NATO with Yanukovych in power, a pro-russian who will had expose 100% of secrets of NATO.
Also the level of corruption and economy and army was very low for EU and NATO back then.
Now the army if very good and i need to say that Ukraine should join NATO before EU.
I really don't know. For a while I thought USA stuck it's thumb into it to intentionally screw it all up. That's what it looked like. They said wouldn't go one inch East but they pushed it. Purpose? to force change in Russia before they got too strong and took control, support military industry? I dunno.
Then someone blew up that pipeline...
Can't explain Europe at this point... but it smells like a mess.
As you wrote, you are no expert. EU leaders have negotiated with Putin till they were blue in the face. It’s ultimately pointless when a dictator is already set to start an invasion with all the terror and horror that follows it. But Russia will pay the price, longterm. By the way, there is no energy crisis in Europe.
The EU cannot deliver an end to the war, so there is nothing in it for Putin to negotiate with them. Putin's terms for ending the war are not acceptable, so it's time to consider arming Ukraine with weapons systems that will allow it to better take the fight deep into Russia and allow them to use them.
Ultimately, Putin would like to completely destroy Ukraine demographically and move more Russians in.
Because Putin invaded Ukraine and the only justified resolution is that Russia leaves Ukraine, all of it, and pays reparations.
Sorry, I’m just now learning that Ukraine is officially counted as part of the EU.
This is like neighbors who are related and live side by side fighting over something that has nothing to do with us, and us unnecessarily taking sides based on self-interest it’s not the EU’s business.
It's totally the EU's business. Do you imagine Putin would stop if he is allowed to conquer Ukraine? There are other nations that were formerly part of the USSR: the Balkan states, Azerbaijan and Armenia and Georgia and most of central Asia: Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Moldova. Have you forgotten what happened when the UK allowed Germany to take over part of Poland?
Russia is a country with a massive landmass. Even if they took over all those countries you mentioned, what would they even do with them? If you were in Russia's shoes, would you do that? Is what you're saying even realistic? They are already struggling to protect their own borders. This war started because Biden wanted to pull Ukraine into NATO. The Russians simply don't want NATO pressure on their doorstep.
Trump make a show of everything than fails in realization. It's better to negotiate behind the curtains and when the deal is ready then to make a show and present a ready success.
Orange Pedo is just not the brightest one.
I bet that’s why he’s suddenly screeching about Greenland again. Which will also fail, of course.
Greenland is a distraction. Always when he has a bad press like now with mostly unreadable Epstein files he seeks a virtual enemy to deflect attentions. I don't think this works anymore in times of internet.
The truth is, even if US would take over Greenland, Denmark wouldn't supply oil to bases and localities anymore. US doesn't have specialized ice breaking tankers fleet for that task. This will be over for those settlements and probably military bases very soon.
Negotiations are still happening but neither side is being flexible about anything
The EU won’t sponsor the annexation of northern Ukraine and Putin is unwilling to let it go
They are deadlocked basically
What happened to the rare earth materials we were supposed to get from Ukraine in exchange for all the money and weapons we provided them? I have not heard a thing about them.
That mine is actually in disrepair and would first need funding to get operational again. 🤷♂️
None of the EU countries has a stick that they cam beat Putin with. At least Trump can impose sanctions on Russia an an attempt to bleed it while it continues the war on Ukraine.
Probably, because 'EU country" politicians are aware that this isn't their business? This conflict is among Rus people.
Isn't this two different things?
Its like asking from jews why did you not negotiate with Hitler. It is hard to negotiate with a person who wants to kills/slave you.
Because it's much easier just sit back and bitch about Trump negotiating.
Europe doesn't understand how to engage russia at all any more. Not since the royal family was killed off.
Why would the EU want to get involved if the USA is still sending money to the Ukraine? They'll just wait and see what happens.
The EU/Europe so far has sent 20 billion more to the Ukraine than the United States (~125 vs. ~105 billion). We also just greenlit an interest-free 90 billion € credit for the Ukraine.
@DryGermanGuy I didn't know that. Even better!
They haven't militarized to a great enough degree to truly oppose Putin.
Because most of their leaders are rigid rusophobes (especially UK and France).
Maybe because they don't give a shit
EU. HA!
Weak.
