Do Americans wear shoes in thier homes and if so why?

Every show I watch and Every American I know say yes. But why? You in your home why not take it off? That's just crazy to me that people even sleep in them.

not all the time, but yes... I usually do

if I am going to be moving around... and going out again soon, then I keep my shoes on, basically... because I'm active, but if I know that I'll just chill or relax at home for longer or for the rest of the day, then yeah... you don't really need shoes much, lol
