I'm reevaluating my relationships. I have to think about the the man I am and the kind of man who I want to be. Having character and integrity is of the utmost importance to me, and I don’t think I want to associate with people who don’t have it.

I’m not sure I want to hang out after hockey anymore. There are a good amount of Trump guys there, and while I know most of them probably didn’t vote based on the more bigoted angles of the campaign and were just badly misinformed about the state of the economy and don’t have the knowledge required to know better, it still wasn’t a deal-breaker. You don’t get a pass for that.

Everyone who voted for Trump is complicit. You KNOW what this guy is about, and you voted for him anyway, based on selfish motivations of promised prosperity. I have no respect for that. And I feel like I’M complicit as an enabler, by remaining friendly with people whose values run so wildly counter to my own, again, not necessarily for what they directly wanted, but it’s more about what they’re willing to accept as negative consequences for OTHERS. I’m basing these relationships on “are they nice to ME”, and that’s plain old fucking selfish on my end. From here on out, you can give me the shirt off of your back…. if you wouldn’t do it for someone else….. I’m out on you. You’re DQ’d from potential friendship. We need to stop saying “your behavior and attitudes are ok”, because they simply aren’t.

Nobody in my family likes Trump, despite two being hardcore Conservatives. Both of them are well-versed in economics and know all the “America’s economy is currently bad” and “Biden ruined it” stuff is nonsensical and patently false. So they aren’t blinded by all that and see him for both the buffoon and the threat that he is. We’re actually tightening up a bit, knowing the economic downturn that’s likely coming.

So fortunately there won’t be any awkward conversations this Thanksgiving. My family passed The Great American Character Test, despite the majority of America failing it.

No... even the Trump haters realized Trump was better than the other option. We came together on that one thing alone... even if they didn't vote for Trump still. I simply agreed to disagree about the Trump issue and then we agree that the woke are full of shit. No normal person wants to trans all the kids and make them stripper dance for them. Nope. Of my family I'm the Trump supporter. Even the other antiwoke sister isn't a fan of him, but no one in my family cares enough to end our relationship. Like no, family is important and above politics.

We finally lost my in-laws. I was waiting for years for my husband to make that call & suspected this would be the straw that broke the back. Im glad it's finally over tbh. He was holding out way too long when they never respected him, & this finally sealed it cuz its clear they don't respect ANYONE but themselves. Look foreward to not having to see them this holidays—hopefully...

I haven't heard anyone complain about Trump winning the election locally. Some batty woman that was likely a Democrat walked up to my car and started petting my dogs through the window in the parking lot when I was waiting for someone to the store. She looked down, but she didn't mention politics.

Possibly a couple but, fuck `em if they wanna be that way!! I have a good friend here at GAG who hates Trump (for some reason! Like, what, did he piss in her Cheerios?) but we get on great together however, I haven't heard from her since the election BUT, according to what she told me, it's because others here at GAG were razzing the shit out of her about something so, she chose to leave for a month or two about a week BEFORE the election. So, I guess THAT'S all that's going on there.
