Anybody have conflicts with friends and family after the election?

I was careful not to post anything political on my social media profiles this election. It doesn’t really accomplish anything any ways.

But I got a far left uncle that has not surprisingly gone ballistic over the election results. I know he has pre-existing psychiatric issues so I try to take it with a grain of salt. But he recently blocked me on Facebook despite having zero conversation about politics for the last 4 years. And I got to see him in person around the holidays.

His adolescent behavior just reinforces my existing ideological positions. I didn’t treat him any differently when Biden won back in 2020. In fact I didn’t treat any average democrat voter any differently after the 2020 election. As long as they were interpersonally respectful I would never think about disassociating with them.

I had a small argument with one of my friends. She doesn't even live in America but supports Kamala solely because she's pro abortion or as she calls them "women's rights"

Non Americans who push their political opinions about this elections are really pissing me off. There are a lot of them on GAG too. Lots of far leftist Europeans.

She was born in America, but she's lived in Turkey her whole life. It pissed me off 'cuz there are far more important issues than abortion. If she lived here, I doubt she'd support her.

And they comment because it effects their country in terms of foreign policy, but abortion is a domestic problem. I can still understand giving input on foreign policy, but they are in no place to give input on our domestic policy that doesn't effect them.

Can she even walk outside without a face covering in Turkey? I know Turkey is one of the more liberal Muslim countries but don’t they enforce sharia law over there?

My husband's aunt has gone full psycho. Blue bracelet etc, she's refusing to come to Thanksgiving or Christmas over the election. She should stop worrying about kamala and politics and focus on her children and husband.

You are not alone. I doubt my uncle will even show up over the holidays.

The most sad and tragic thing about all of this is my uncle isn’t in good health. He’s diabetic, had a minor stroke a few years ago and a recovering smoker. He might not even be around that long much longer.

But what is really going on is he had some rough times in personal life that had NOTHING to do with politics (ugly divorce, problems with his kids, etc.). And he’s transferring all his pain and anger into politics.

Whenever you see someone with TDS what is really going on is they have other personal issues that have NOTHING to do with politics. But they turn Trump into a mental whipping boy to feel better about themselves.
