This one woman I was talking to said she was from the United States not North America what does she mean by this?

Oceania contains the state of Hawaii and territories like American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Marina Islands. The United States also has military bases and embassies all around the world. So if your parents were stationed for military purposes or a member of the foreign service you might of been born in government paid housing in some foreign country on U. S. soil technically.

The United States should have never added the “of America” in its name. I think maybe our forefathers thought that we would have all of North America as the United States. Do you hear of any other nations that use their continent in their name? For example Germany of Europe, Canada of America, Mexico of America.

Because North America includes Canada, and she was probably clarifying that she is from the US, not Canada. That's how I would take it.

Maybe her family immigrated from somewhere else and she repeatedly clarify that between family let alone a new acquaintance.

It's not like you get north American citizenship.

Hawaii, or if she thinks terrorizes are part of these united states she could be in Guam, or Puerto Rico (which is by some definitions still north America)

North America is not a country. The United States is.

I think she meant that the U. S. does not composed the entirety of North America. Also most people outside the U. S. don't call it America because technically anyone who lives in either America are Americans.
