Separately, a populist can also have dogshit ideas. And so can the peasants. But an emphasis on the wants and needs of the peasantry, itself, is honorable.

2. I am generally a conservative person but I have very strong feelings about protecting individual liberties, and I sometimes run afoul of my conservative colleagues because I want every person to have their voice heard.

3. As for populism, one charismatic leader can turn a nation and have the majority supporting very horrible ideas. Think Germany in the 1930's.
