If you don't go downtown at night, or buy hard drugs during the day shootings won't reach out to you so much. At least not down in Louisiana, and the per capita murder rate is pretty high here.

Granted I live out in the burbs, so maybe city life has become more violent, but honestly it seems less so, at least for New Orleans.

Yeah that's where I heard the shooting take place in the city area at night. Sucks because there is so much to do there upscale restaurants and hotels

I'd say compared to when the BLM riots were popping off, or even like early 2000's, crime now isn't so bad. It generally has gotten better over time, the only bump recently is all these DAs not prosecuting in blue states. You get what you vote for, shrug.

There has been a slight increase over the last few years, but the overall trend has been downward for the last 30+ years. It peaked in the early 70s, again around 1980, and again around 1990. The overall trend has been downward ever since. The murder rate today is almost have what it was during those three peaks.

Same for almost all violent crimes. I think property crimes as well.

We rarely shout in my country and we don't do drugs (maybe 1% of the population does), but we could get killed if we walk around alone at 3 am with a suspicious bag of money..

I do know where the shootings happen in my city area. Doesn’t bother me. I still go out as usual.
I don’t watch Tv but I do know where theses things happen.

Crime is at one of the lowest it's been since the dawn of humanity. Thanks to Dems we're seeing a bit of a resurgence of crime ie homicide, but not nearly as bad as it was in antiquity.

Only times guns were going off around me was during my military training operations.
