Do you think the US justice system doesn't make sense and is a total joke sometimes?

What's wrong with this picture?

- Sentenced for 20-24 years for selling drugs

- At times that's even the same exact sentence for someone that killed someone. They got that same sentence with parole and get released LOL

- Meanwhile sometimes a rapist can get 15 years or less

Sometimes you get more sentencing for a non-violent act and less sentencing for an actual sexual offense or even murder. So is the US justice system sometimes a total joke? There was even a case of man that was free and already a 3 time child offender who didn't even serve 10 years.

Some people have done a lot worse and served less time than the 20-24 years sentence for selling drugs.

I can see why some people might feel that way, especially given how complex and sometimes inconsistent the U. S. justice system can appear. There are instances where the system seems to favor wealth or power, and high-profile cases can sometimes reveal biases or systemic issues. Issues like racial disparities, the influence of money in politics, and lengthy legal processes can certainly make it seem like the system isn't always fair or logical. However, the U. S. justice system does have mechanisms for reform and checks and balances in place to try and correct these flaws, even if those processes don't always work as intended.

In America, as I understand it, everything's done by state. Therefore, each state does things differently. Like in Texas, you get sentenced to 300 years just for drunk and disorderly, but in California you get a fine for murder.

It's all fucked up over there. Just have the law. One lot of law for the whole country.

There isn't a single "US justice system" unless you are referring only to federal courts who handle a tiny minority of crimes.

Drugs do Kill a lot of people...

Rape at best is a form of thief, assault, kidnapping, and hijacking.

Rape is a permanent trauma to the victim. Not just that but the rapist is indeed putting the victim's health at risk too.

That doesn't set it apart from many other forms of assault @danielle93 which are even more permanent and traumatic than a mere rape is.
Seriously rape is competing with people losing limbs or being crippled when it comes to other forms of assault.

Yes it's indeed disappointing sometimes. While some are getting heavy sentence for much less, others get so little for worse things.
