No not necessarily he´s just supporting voices that are at the far right in Germany because of business reasons. The AfD wants to leave the EU and Musk hates the EU as well as it binds X to laws to privacy and democracy laws that make the provider responsible for what is written on their platform. If a platform ignores those laws it has to pay huge fees. For instance Meta has to pay a 800 million euro fee for having an unfair competition concerning their advertisement policy. Musk fears similar fees for X if they don´t follow the social media laws of the EU.

So he supports the only party that is in my knowledge against those kind of fees that is AfD. Nonetheless it should be clear that he is politically on the right spectrum. He´s following or at least sharing a tweet by Naomi Seibt, that is an influencer that supports the AfD. She is also a fan of him and a voice on the far right in Germany.
