Should slavery continue to be illegal?

It might seem like there's an obvious answer to this, but I have spoken to people that actually seem to be in favor of slavery as a way of making higher profits. What do you think?

Slavery should continue to be illegal, yes full stop!

The fact is, owning a fellow human being is wrong and honestly if we were to legalize it… The wealthy corporations would move all their jobs to slave labor since they hate having to give hard workers like you & me sufficient wages, ethical working conditions, 5 day work week, and having to paid overtime, etc.

Don’t even pretend this isn’t the dystopian future that would come about because we’ve seen it before with Triangle Short-waist Fire & other incidents which had doors you couldn’t push out to leave in case of a fire, no sufficient fire escapes (collapsed / was too narrow / doors wouldn’t open), and no way of extinguishing the flames leading to innocent casualties on the job also the kicker no punishment for management since there were no laws in place.

There used to be Slavery, Child Labor, and trying to hide impurities in small batches (why Coca Cola is brown is to hide gross sh*t that found its way into the Soda) until we had a Civil War, pushed FDA Approval, passed Anti Child Labor Laws, etc.

you host slaves that work... and should get paid as well, like 50/50 so they can build a bank account. you in return receive their labor. in 7 years, they are free.

people could work part time jobs and work tasks at home. Problem is, this would displace other businesses... like lawn mowing, cleaning and that be impactful to economy.

So... probably not going to work. It's a challenge to get "poor" people to USA when the cost of getting started is so high. That is one justification why Biden admin gave so much to people crashing the border...$, housing, cars, phones, etc..

It's already legal in a sense, but in referse. govt is taking from those that have and giving to those that don't. they are slaves. Make the reverse legal as the bible says... if believe "God is love" then slavery is about caring for another that needs help. in exchange for training them, giving shelter and food, you get free labor.
probably does not work because it displaces lower end businesses. maybe they have to work part time and save.
the goal is within 7 years, they are functional in society and free. they are always free in my view, but the slave chooses to stay where they are because it's better and the slave owner chooses the slave because they are good people that care for their house and things.
apply that thinking to refugees and immigrants.

You must be talking to Elon lately cause that's what he wants to do by bringing in foreigners on visas because they won't be able to leave and have to work for way less than they are worth.

Or maybe it was to jail wardens who want to bring in more prisoners to have them be free labor in work camps, starting with our homeless population and many cities criminalizing it.

This whole country is going to hell when people think going back to slavery is a good thing.

say what? when I was in IT we hired people on H1B visas, they made a lot more here... which is why they came to USA, then moved their families over and are now all quite wealthy living in mansions. none want to return to their native country.
it will mean some competition for tech jobs...

You are working to survive... and controlled by a system.

Also... modern slavery is a thing. Now if you're talking about chattel slavery, human trafficking, forced labor... etc... yeah, that should be illegal.

Under the 13th amendment slavery has always been permissible. It's why they continue to convict Blacks for the most mediocre of crimes, so they can be used as slave labour.
