Democrats.

Americans are bad people, very selfish and hateful, and only motivated by the prospect of prosperity, and will sacrifice decency to achieve it. They have no scruples, no consistency, and will move goalposts and be hypocritical and just outright lie, both to others AND themselves to explain away their poor character and values.

Democrats fail to play into that, and think appeals to morality and “doing the right thing” will persuade people. Americans will sell out other Americans IN A SECOND if they think it prevents one shiny nickel from rolling out the door.

Basically, they fruitlessly ask bad people to PLEASE be good people, and Americans are just like “LOL, no.” They need to start tricking them into voting for them through promising shit they won’t be able to deliver but packaging it with human decency. The human decency doesn’t offend enough people to sway an election away from Democrats, but if nothing else, Americans are about “me, me, me, and fuck everyone else”, so Dems will lose until they lower the bar to our shitty citizenry like the other side does.

There's being out-of-touch with "the people" (*) and then there's being out-of-touch with reality.

In the end, reality always wins out because the people can only remain willfully ignorant or deluded for so long.

(*) As for "the people", that's some people - never all of them - because there are people in this world (like scientists, usually) who understand reality and so are not deluded or ignorant.
