1930's Germans could at least plead ignorance about what their leaders were doing (although they were delighted to take over Jewish businesses and see the true owners "leave"). Neo-Nazis don't have that; they know exactly what their beliefs lead to, and they want it.

They'll add trans people to the list of Jews, Gays, non-Whites, Gypsies, etc., but it's always just people to feel superior to and oppress.

Yes I do think they are worse because not all the people in Germany knew what was going on or supported the Nazis. And they were also put in a very difficult situation after world war 1 which led to the rise of extremism. But Neo Nazis specifically chose this ideology.

I did watch a video with a former white supremacist and they do basically target vulnerable lonely excluded people and give them a community and say it's just standing up for themselves not about hate so I can see how someone could end up in a group like that.

I mean there are kids from western countries who end up joining ISIS. So you can see that's how powerful it is to give a lonely lost person the feeling of belonging somewhere. They will fly across the world and join a terrorist group just because someone said some nice words to them. Compared to that joining a hate group in your own city is easier to talk someone into.

Let's just say they're both bad.

I saw Shindlers list when I was like 11, we covered the second world war in primary school because my teacher was very motivated. And it has definitely stayed with me. I also visited a concetration camp. I think it's very important to be aware of what humans are capable of.

Definitely, because exactly like you said the original Nazis, not even Nazis party members and Nazi party voters knew what would happen in 1933.

(And make no mistake, around the 1935-1940 range everyone knew what Hitler was actually doing. But by that time he had become too powerful to be removed and he was surrounded with loyalists and Yes Men. No. But it's usually funny, as the "neo-nazi" is the type who WOULD be sent to the camps, by the original Nazi!

You see, what a lot of people don't realise is that the Nazi's were also separatists - it's one reason they lost the war. They ONLY wanted certain people they chose, to be a part of their cult. Everyone else was for the camp.

It's why the Allies had to pull out all the stops to win. It's also why the Nazi ideology is so vehemently challenged by sensible people who understand its connotations.

The so called "neo-nazi" of the modern era is usually just a sad loner trying to use some of that NSDAP symbolism to justify their loneliness and social exclusion.

It's usually rather sad, as the individuals can be better and more successful people if they apply themselves differently. It's always interesting to read the stories of former neo-nazi's.

Most aren't bad people at heart, just mislead people who need better guidance to turn their lives around.
