because for me it is the most normal thing, to present an ID... even to pay a bill, you just show your voting ID like "yeah, this is me"

OK, ID for voting is not a bad thing, as long as everybody has ID. The trouble comes when it "just happens" that the other side's voters have a harder time accessing it and therefore voting.

Of course, gerrymandering a state that should be 50-50 so that the elected officials are 11-3 and keep power away from state-wide officers is worse. That's how Republicans cheat. (NC.)

Even Trump could not vote under the rules he is setting (he is a convicted felon). That is the issue about "voter ID;" not the ID itself, but excluding people based on political decisions.

State aid and funding is a legal right and requirement, that even a president cannot fuck around with without serious blowback. It has little to do with votes, as whether they voted for him or not, he is still their president.
