Have YOU gotten more involved politically before?

I'm getting a bit more involved because i feel like i just have to. our democracy is on the line here.

Have any of you tried anything?

Yes i donated money to a candidate or cause or institution before

i joined a local activist group and attended meetings and/or gone to protests with them

I've gone canvassing and/or phonebanking for a candidate before

I've called, emailed, or contacted a senator or congress person to let them know what i think or feel about things

I've attended town hall or city council meetings

I've done other things to get more involved (what did you do?)

I vote on specific issues. And that's enough. We just had a vote on if protecting the environment should be in the constitution which I voted against because we already do a ton for the environment clean air clean rivers and lakes a lot of green spaces in cities protecting forrests etc. I don't want this ammendment to make every process more costly and time consuming like in the UK with infrastructure projects like HS2 or in Germany where they also have bruocracy problems. We have a lot of great programs that are only possible because both the economy and the government are run efficiently and are competitive. If we do anything to upset that then it could have consequences down the line. And about 70% of the electorate rejected this proposal. In the past I didn't vote every time but now I do and I think it's a good habit :). Electing people is more difficult because a lot of politicians are just regular people, some have other jobs. So it's difficult to make a decision you just have to go based on party most of the time. I'm more used to and more comfortable making decisions on issues because you do those 3-4 times a year but elections are more rare.

I don't really have to become an activist because any cause already has a group of people who are promoting it. So I just have to support the ones I agree with with my vote. Or sign to get an issue up for a vote I've done that a few times too.

truthfully i dont go do most of these things because protesting can get out of hand and the other stuff is like why bother but if im at home on my phone or computer and i see someone post an opinion on a social media site i will definatly say something mainly because one its less pressure and two i have less worries about other people becomeing violent or agressive towards me in a way that could have potential legal fallout for one of us

i do but i feel like with how people are these days im not going to risk being overly open about it now im not saying you can't or shouldent have opinions but i do think the more you put yourself out there on your political ideas the more tension is created and lets face it i dont wanna be gunned down in my house one night over a canidite i voted for

People need to have groups before the need for protesting. All those who protest together need to be kept in contact and have actual goals they move towards even in the smallest of steps and trying to get others to get on board. It doesn’t hurt either to have a few who are very familiarized with term conditions regulations policies Yk etc etc. knowing the rights of us and such. As well as a few who are equipped legally and politically on their side or a member of such groups.

cause if they only show up for the protest some chances out of 10 it’s too late. The protest is more an anger for what’s been made wrong. Groups of people should unite to actively ensure things are going RIGHT and on a right track.

Not currently. I was here and there towards the ending term of high school. And up around the time I could first vote
