Do you find it ironic that the Democrats call President Trump and the REPUBLICANS "fascists," when it is clearly THEY who have been engaging in all kinds of fascist activity for years on end?

It's because the left wing of our country doesn't realize that all the Fascist, super aggressive, authoritarian leaders always rise to power on a message of empathy and care. Most Nazis were good, empathetic, well-intentioned people who wanted their country to be strong.

These people tend to think that their liberal beliefs are the result of being educated and enlightened. So there's a great deal of ego and a confidence that they are so intellectually superior that they couldn't possibly fall into the trap of authoritarianism. They think they would recognize it when someone was manipulating them.

Agree with some of that except this one needs major correction:

Many (I won't go as far as most) GERMANS did not understand what Hitler was up to in the early stages of his rise to power and did not necessarily have bad intentions when they helped him achieve it. And it's true that the Nazi party's official name was "National Socialist German Workers' Party" which -- similar to the way that the name "Democratic Party" is anything but -- was intentionally named to be deceptive and appeal to exactly the same kind of virtue signalers that you described.

But even by 1925, it was clear that the Nazis were up to evil and anyone who went along with their unabashed agenda of anti-Semitism, and superiority through eugenics was decidedly NOT good, empathetic and well-intentioned.

Now, just like the Democrats who use threats and intimidation to force weak minded people to bow to their agenda didn't the Nazis do that too? Yes, they did. But I think people who would do that kind of evil rather than stand up and resist are by definition NOT any of those good things.

Never doubt the human capacity for denial! The same mechanism that allows a serial killer's wife to rationalize away the fact her garage smells like rotting flesh, she hasn't been banged in 10 years and her husband's ever-growing collection paper machete replica breast statues is what allowed the German people to tolerate Nazism.

We can say the German people knew what the Nazis were really about, but I think that is a far too optimistic assumption.

They simply didn't believe it was real. How could it be real? That would be absurd. And it would be incredibly inconvenient.

I like the train of thought as it applies to the serial killer's wife, but in the case of Germany I'm not willing to give nearly as much of a pass to the people there during that period. You have to put yourself it that era to understand the difference. They didn't have the Nazis in their history books to study. At best I might agree that many didn't understand that what they were doing was evil. But I don't believe that they didn't understand exactly what they were doing.

Thank you. What escapes the people who really hate Trump (and I don't particularly like him) is that by trying to destroy him you're just making him more delectable and relevant. My advice to the democrats, if you really want the Trump phenomena to stop. Stop deciding that you know what all is best for Americans and start listening to Americans. I really didn't think Trump would get re-elected. How could he? It's ONLY because the other option is just that bad.

Fascism is just believing that the rights of the individual are worth sacrificing if it benefits the goals of the state. The Fasces have at least tangentially been historically associated with fascist regimes. That is true and I agree it is curious why those symbols are allowed to remain there considering their historical roots. But that says nothing about which party engages in fascist activity.

The reason they're targeting Trump is what's going on now. He isn't one of them. He's not one of the Democrat elite or the Republican elite for that matter. He's an outsider, a businessman not a politician at heart although fortunately now he has gained quite a bit of political experience the hard way over the last 10 years.

They are terrified of him because they are corrupt. They are stealing people's tax money left and right. They're doing it under every rock and in every dark corner of Washington.
