1 yThat’s pretty much it.
Anything they feel threatened by, they go out of their way to drag it/them through the mud. Like Gavin Newsom scares the shit out of them. It’s not even that he’s done everything right in his political career, it’s just that he looks and acts the part. Tall, good looking guy, great hair, good communicator. He’s telegenic and charismatic, and they HATE that…

Absolutely PUNKED OUT by body language AOC is another. She’s young, she’s good-looking, she’s a fiery speaker. That also scares the shit out of them. We might have to start talking about Jasmine Crockett the same way, she’s built for TikTok soundbytes. I predict we’ll hear an increase in hate towards her.
Bottom line is that MAGA is more about branding and optics. Like if they told you what they REALLY were going to do, most people would be like “wait, what? Fuck no!”, but they’ve mastered messaging to idiots, and now a bunch of broke motherfuckers think they’re about to be lifted out of economic hardship by a bunch of billionaires who have absolutely no designs on allowing that. Like I REALLY think these MAGA voters think they’re about to see some kind of economic turnaround, because again, due to nefarious but effective messaging, we have tens of millions of apparently morons who have been hustled into believing that Joe Biden could’ve somehow made our prices lower, and just didn’t want to or couldn’t figure it out, or something, which is just…. WOW🤦♂️😂
Before we even get into good or bad politicians, we just simply are saddled with a population of people who just don’t understand “the way things work,” and that’s frightening, in a democracy. Above all else, American citizens have a stupidity and ignorance problem, combined with being wildly overconfident that they AREN’T. We’re ripe for the picking to bad actors as long as that’s the case.
But yeah, when you hear Trump & company say “The Radical Left”, that’s purely out of fear.
09 Reply- 1 y
Hahaha, I appreciate the vote of confidence😝 I’m unfortunately better on power than in person. And nowhere near diplomatic enough. When Brett Baier asked Kamala Harris if she thought Americans were stupid for considering Trump, she was like “NO, I would NEVER say that!”
I would. Holy fuck, I WOULD😂 My campaign couldn’t win, I can’t articulate any of this without pointing how monumentally stupid you’d need to be to follow this guy, or how morally bankrupt you are to even consider him as a potential candidate. Like this is legitimately the dumbest shit I have ever seen in 45 years of living. I don’t consider myself a genius or anything like that, but I still feel like being whatever level on intelligence I have is a curse. Just ASTONISHING stupidity and outright willful self-delusion that stops me dead in my tracks to a point where it’s tough to even engage in debating with them at length. I realize how arrogant this all sounds, but I mean…. its not even that I’m SO smart as much as they’re SO dumb, lmao. I just consider myself “smart enough to feel anchored by these people who I would’ve just assumed could function at my intellectual level”, because again, I’m not splitting atoms or splicing genomes over here. I just feel like I’m diving depth of the pool, but there’s way too much shallow end and barely any deep end.
It feels worse than it used to be too. But now like 20-30% of the conversations I’m in, the other person or people will just say or believe some shit that leaves me stunned and slack-jawed, just by way of being a resident of reality. It’s like I got to adulthood, and it’s like a kindergarten class, and I’m stuck with a huge ratio of people who pick their noses and eat paste🤦♂️
I can’t clean up that message, so I couldn’t be the guy😂 - 1 y
* better on paper than in person
My iPhones get progressively worse in their autocorrect lmao - 1 y
I guess I’m thinking more like a Presidential candidate running against Trump than Gov of CA. Hopefully fewer people to have to talk down to, lmao. I could never compete with Newsom’s hair though. Mine’s still all there, but it’s out of control. Newsom looks like he’s out of Central Casting, haha
- 1 y
Thank you for the comprehensive reply. I guess we are going to have to scrap our campaign plans for you after all. My sympathies. Many residents in California will be deprived of a very good next Governor. In all seriousness, I don't think the metric is smart versus dumb at all or at least not in a principal fashion. I think the metric has to do with how much cognitive dissonance people can tolerate. Am I thinking about this? Is that people that people who originally voted for Trump are now beginning to realize or are threatened with realizing what a great mistake they made and in order to avoid the pain of cognitive dissonance, they simply double down on their original erroneous beliefs. I don't think this is a conscious phenomenon at all and I think it occurs in many people. With them having little or no sense of what is going on. We need to avoid the pain of cognitive dissonance also explains why many people even when they are clearly wrong. Absolutely refuse to apologize or change their position on whatever they were wrong about in the first place. I have personally experienced one episode of cognitive dissonance that I'm aware of and it was extremely uncomfortable and actually nearly painful. It also taught me something that I really needed to know about myself and about the issue that the dissonance was related to. I happen to notice some very intelligent people that are quite insightful and well educated and well spoken that are Trump followers and strident ones that. I used to find that inexplicable but my thoughts about them ultimately gave rise to my nascent cognitive dissonance causation hypothesis which is by no means meant to mean that I believe it is the final word on the issue, but at least it is some interim of thinking that you might find of interest. Thanks for your posts in general and your posts here on my question.
- 1 y
Not from California nor a mega supporter. Gavin has failed the state though. Gary Davis another one that flunk. Just bad luck California has. It dosent make a difference on politics. Politics is the excuse people use when something goes wrong. Sick of hearing it
- 1 y
Gray oops
- 1 y
Yeah, that all makes a ton of sense. I think I’m just so exasperated after all these years of not being able to get through to them on appeals to reason or morality that I’ve finally gone into the mud with them and I’m down to “you’re dumb”, lmao. And cognitive dissonance is that brick wall I keep running into.
But I think when I say “dumb”, I’m more talking about inability to see through the misinformation and the overall MAGA hustle. These folks just haven’t listened to “polite” for the last decade, I’m trying a different approach this time. Their understood language is mockery.
Thanks for the kind words and for reading. It takes me more than a couple minutes to churn out these things, so I definitely appreciate that at least one person is reading them😂🙏

I visited and is beautiful place, the food was fresh and california produces a lot of it. I'm thankful for that. San fran was lovely and lots of smart people.
But terribly crowded and lot of of the people were "moon bats"... just different. Not my type. I did meet some inspiring spiritual people, but seems the minority. I heard from people in san fran it is terrible now... so I don't like hearing that. I didn't like the character of some people I met.
Los Angeles was lovely in Orange and a crowded dump in hollywood.
San Diego was just insane levels of traffic and people. Hear of "trains"?
My mom said it was going to fall into the ocean some day...
I appreciate they value their giant trees.
I have no interest in living there.

@Booboolove69 Yes, and to think our media ethics come from hollywood. It's a reason I turned it all off, turned off the TV and cancelled cable, don't do netflix. Mind 'programming' used to be much better quality. Better off visiting their state parks and leaving.

Yes, exactly right the media does suck and I’m listening to news all the way in Florida about California and I’m terribly misinformed
662 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I'm not sure that MAGA hates California, but they sure don't like ANY blue state. California is said (you must know this) to have the best economy of ALL the states in the US, and their economy makes it possible to send money to those poorer states to help them, and that is, the Red states. So it's ironic that those states that depend on CA for help with their own economy--dont appreciate them.
When Trump was criticizing Gavin Newsome for "not taking care of CA's wildfires like he should", and spreading misinformation about him and CA, Newsome called him to on it, and told Trump to say this to his face. Newsome tried to meet with him himself--and Trump walked away or didn't show up. Incidentally, here is the truth about CA and the wildfires, so people are not mislead.

I was born and raised and Redondo Beach Los Angeles and yes, I will always love California but I don’t particularly care for Gavin Newson. I think it’s terrible what he did with the water shortage when the fires happened but I do absolutely love California. That’s where I’m from. they will always be my home.
- 1 y
@dustybiker2 Yes, it is. And as a native Californian whose family history there goes back to 1847, before the Gold Rush, I would love to see it become it's own country since we are so disliked by so many in the US. With the 5th largest economy in the world, we can stand on our own. But it will never happen. I wonder if the haters realize how much my state does for the Union? I love American but I hate the hate.
- 1 y
@Booboolove69 There was no water shortage. There was a lack of water pressure due to over demand due to too many fires all at once.
- 1 y
@Caroline91 they may have the 5th largest economy but they so have the highest taxes and the largest deficit. Something is not right/
- 1 y
@exitseven That's true largely as a result of a severe revenue decline in 2022‑23. We will work our way out of it. I'm not saying it will be easy, but I have confidence we will. Also, we have a progressive income tax structure, so it isn't as bad as it sounds. But I will say it is very expensive to live there. However, if you know how, you can mitigate that in a lot of ways. And there are so many benefits to the California lifestyle that it is hard to beat, in my eyes. But we do need to be very careful about who we elect as Governor in 2026.
- 1 y
@Caroline91 The state I live in is almost bankrupt and the only was to really balance the budget now is to raise the state income tax. The governor is raising the cigarette tax another dollar and tax candy and soft drinks but that will not bring in enough money. She wants to run for governor again and raising the income tax will be very unpopular.
When President Trump defunds the state because they are a sanctuary state it will be a total shit show,
Hopefully things will get so bad that my wife will agree to move to Florida. - 1 y
@FunkyMonkee It was water pressure due to everyone wanting water from ever single fire hydrant at the same time. Every city in the world would react the same. We are talking entire chunks of city aflame in 80-100 wind gusts. Trump showed a picture of a river which doesn't even flow south and didn't tell the facts about the rest either. Please research yourself and not take his word. I still have lots of family and friends in Cali.
@exitseven I have lived in a lot of places.
@Caroline91 Agreed - 1 y
@FunkyMonkee That doesn’t make it true.

He is running the state on a $35 Billion deficit. Perhaps he put it all into the illegal immigration pot? @msc545 Why are tons of businesses leaving California for other states? Too much retail crime perhaps? Why are people moving out faster then anyone, except illegals, moving in? Why are the homeless in California not getting any of that cash passed out to immigrants? When was the last time you were in that rotting and festering hole known as San Francisco? Why does California give free passes to any crooks who do not steal anything worth less than $950? Didn't Newsom build a new $9 million dollar mansion for himself? He is living on the high horse while the residents pay some of the highest, if not THE highest, taxes in the US? Why do people have to share a house with 2 other families in order to afford a small $1 million house?
- 1 y
You can save the gish gal attempts. Those aren't going to work with me. All you've done is regurgitated a bunch of MAGA positions without a shred of supporting evidence. Why don't you try linking some evidence that supports some of the things that you have said? I've heard them all before. They've all been repudiated repeatedly and yet people keep bringing them up over and over again. So provide some evidence or live with the fact at what you've said is not credible.
- 1 y
Don't you think that if you hear it so much that if might be true? OK, humor me. Why are you so in love with Gavin Newsome? You don't think that the fires were at least partly his fault?
- 1 y
I am not in love with him, but he does have more than a room temperature IQ which suggests a functioning brain. He did not have anything to do with starting the fires at all or causing them.
The fires were apparently mostly started by live power lines that came down in the high winds while they were still alive. Many were owned and poorly maintained by Southern California Edison, a frequent offender in that they often do not maintain their lives properly - too interested in profits. There was no "shortage" of water; rather there was a shortage of water pressure due to overdemand as a result of too many fires at the same time. Water pressure is maintained by gravity feed towers - a very common solution - and when they are empty it tasks awhile to refill them.
Newsom did not have a single fucking thing to do with the fires. Stop repeating MAGA propaganda, please. It is odious and false. - 1 y
@NoDecision No:
An "appeal to the mob" fallacy, also known as "argumentum ad populum" or "bandwagon fallacy," is a logical fallacy where someone tries to convince others that something is true simply because a large number of people believe it, essentially arguing that "everyone is doing it, so you should too," regardless of the actual evidence or merit of the claim; it relies on the idea of joining the majority opinion to be considered correct, even if it's not based on sound reasoning.

Yes, a substantial number of the poorer people in California have been leaving. I don't think people really realize this, but the Central valley region of California, basically from Bakersfield all the way to the Oregon border is an area of extremely low income. A lot of agricultural work and a lot of Right wing Republicans who are Trump voters. This is probably the only area in California and perhaps the only area on the West Coast that is really regressive in where people are literally 20 or 30 years behind the times. Mostly. Uneducated and mostly very racist. So when people leave California it's usually these people. I can't stand civilization around them and move to places like Missouri or Alabama or Mississippi or Texas where they can be with their red friends. We don't mind when they leave.

That’s what I’m saying. It probably is a MAGA myth
Opinion Owner1 y@msc545 I don't exist to answer your questions. In fact I took a long break from GAG.
California has imported 361,057 foreigners to offset the 239,575 Americans who have left.
It is right there in the 2nd line easy to find.
As you can see people who actually know what califorina is compared to other states are leaving. Only ignorant foreigners are being imported to take their place. A large share of whom are companies commuting H1B fraud to undercut American wages and illegal aliens who are generally doing the same with low skilled American labor and skilled mechanize labor. But are regardless too poor to pay Califorinas taxes or be made to follow the law regardless.
I am impressed how many foreigners all but think Americans live in mentions as Hollywood sells them.
Opinion Owner1 y"Extraordinary" claims do not require extraordinary proof @msc545
Just simple numbers which tell the story. That said I don't think the claim is at all extraordinary or hard to believe. Undesirable states lose people all the time, although often it isn't even the fraught of the goverment but rather the environment.- 1 y
So if you think it's so easy to do prove it. I know you people hate being asked for proof and take it as offensive and insulting, but in this particular case you've made wild claims. Once again you have absolutely no support for them. Just a lot of outraged verbiage. That is not persuasive.
Opinion Owner1 y@msc545
If the Link referencing census data and trends not trustworthy enough for you im not sure what would be.
perhaps you would like official goverment sights?- 1 y
You refer to people who come to live in California as "ignorant foreigners" as if they're present somehow doesn't count and as if they didn't pay taxes and didn't work here and live here and have children here and do all the other things that we do here. You do this because you know that if you admit to the fact that they have come here to live here that contradicts your basic thesis that people are living leaving California because it's a terrible place. Did you think I wasn't going to notice that? Do you think that's really appropriate? I call it intellectual cowardice.
