I was on instagram reels and this dude was talking about how he’s been with his girlfriend since he was 17 and she was 15 and people were in the comments calling him a pedo. I don’t see how that’s that’s the case since maturity levels don’t change drastically between 15-17 and it’s just simply not that much of an age gap

I think there was maybe a couple months when I was 19 and my girlfriend was 17. We were both minors when we started dating. But I was a year older than her. So I guess there were like 14 months after I turned 18 when she was still technically underage. I don’t think the law really goes after that sort of thing, I think that’s an understood teenage dynamic.

I’m looking it up…. turns out in my state it’s illegal to have sex under 16, even if you’re BOTH under 16. So I’m technically guilty there, back in the day, lmao.

But yeah, there are “close in age” exemptions in some states, because I think the spirit of the rule is understood that we’re just trying to protect minors from grown ass adults. 17 and 15 is normal as hell. They could be one year apart in school, depending on the specific birthdays in question.

All throughout history (before the west takes 25 years for people to grow up and move out of their parents houses) people were married and lived on their own and had families at 17. Most kids in the past had to start working for the family and didn't watch TV and lay around playing video games all their lives whining about having it hard, being oppressed, life not being fair. They were busy all day doing family work.
