The only thing Zalensky has to offer the US is mineral rights. He is not serious about making a deal. Let him try to deal with Russia on his own.

1 yRussia is starting an imperialistic war in Europe and teaming up with China who wait to do the same with Taiwan.
If you think that some minerals and cash are your only problem here then you don't see the real issue. The world order is falling apart and instead of sticking together the US starts kissing Putin's ass and giving him everything he wanted and does everything to weaken Europe.
Yes Europe needs to do more for their own defense but if Europe is falling apart then the US will be in deep shit too. The only reason why this way is still going on is because Europe and the US did a half assed job supporting the Ukraine. Not even the sanctions are properly enforced. The Ukraine did a fantastic job fighting off a much stronger enemy, especially during the beginning of the way when they were still on their own even everyone thought they're not gonna survive for a day and a big reason of this was Zelensky. You don't have to agree with everything he says or does but you can't blame him for trying to defend his country and not just give away a big junk of his territory. This way needs to end but Trump is an idiot and screws everyone over in the process

1 yI seem to recall the lefties whining, “It’s not our war,” and their creepy appointed president closed our embassies there and pulled out our troops. The first time the Russians ran over some Ukrainians with a tank, those same lefties erected Ukrainian flags in their yards (as if that would help).
I personally don’t believe billions of our hard earned dollars have gone to Ukraine. I think a huge portion of that has been going to the left wing politicians which is why they got out of Putin’s way and didn’t prevent the conflict and why they don’t want to see the conflict come to an end.
Europeans are great at complaining about the U. S. not minding their own business, but then when the problem is in their own backyard, “Where is America? Why aren’t they doing something?”
President Trump is doing the right thing.

Because a lot of people only have "ideas" that were given to them in talking points/media programming and most of the media has been controlled by intelligence services going back to the 1950s. If Trump knew the right person to order, he could probably get every talking head on every network to say, "My balls smell today." like a robot.

1 yAll that does is make America look unbelievably weak on the world stage, plus it gives a green light to not only Russia, but also China, for aggressive territorial expansion, and Ukraine will be just the beginning.
Right now, America looks straight up delusional, trying to blame the conflict on Ukraine, and trying to paint Zelenskyy as a bad guy or ungrateful.
My old man voted for Trump and is FURIOUS about this, he feels betrayed as an American, and we’re in rare agreement.

Both Russia and China will expand their terrotry regardless of what happens as far as they can get away with it.
This will force their neighbors in to defense alliances with their enemies. if they have enemies who can defend them. Currently America is the only country with the capability to fight a war on the other side of the planet. - 1 y
Trump is showing real leadership instead of capitulating to what Europe and Ukraine wants us to do. He is putting America's interests first. Zelensky has forgotten that he is not dealing with a president that he has bought and paid for. Trump will not say "we will do whatever it takes" like
Biden did. 3 years is long enough. Lets move on. - 1 y
This is a no balls move, man. We look like pussies.
Hopefully you don’t need any convincing that Russia is “the bad guy” and Ukraine is “the good guy” in this conflict. You really need to reevaluate your information sources if your allegiance isn’t 100 to 0 in favor Ukraine. The entire world knows it. When America is pretty much alone with North Korea and maybe in standing with Russia, or at very least standing with them by default when they don’t stand by Ukraine, and the rest of the decent world is looking at us like we’re crazy, it’s not them who are off-base, it’s US.
Trying to be President Tony Soprano is a fucking LOSER move. This is a silver spoon pussy who has probably never thrown or eaten a punch in his entire life trying to play some tough guy character. He’s an obese elderly man with terrible spray tan who’s a third-rate Atlantic City insult comic. He’s a weak person’s idea of strong, a stupid person’s idea of smart, and a fool’s idea of wise. I will never understand the fascination, nor how you’ve all been fooled into believing this guy gives a squirt of piss about anyone not in the 1% or who can’t benefit him in some way. It’s clear as day to all of us watching from the sidelines, we’re just waiting for the obvious to dawn on you guys, but I’m starting to fear that bus isn’t coming.

@RageBabe Donald Trump does not care one iota about loss of life😂😂😂 This is about saving America money, and the money won’t be going to you. Trump doesn’t have a humanitarian bone in his body, that’s the whole issue I have with the MAGA movement, is that you have to be an absolute animal to be ok with their positions. No sane person with a decent soul should even have the kind of thoughts MAGA endorses crossing their mind. You literally have to be sick to buy into it.

@monorprise that’s the point, man…. you can’t let that go unchecked, and like it or not, we’re the ones who can take this on

@WhiteSteve Ukraine is Vietnam all over again. Einstein said that doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome is the definition of insanity.
- 1 y
@WhiteSteve Europe is 500 million people asking America's 300 million to defend them from 140 million Russians on THEIR OWN BORDER.
I don't see European troops fighting the Mexican drug war on OUR border. I don't even see Europe willing to cede to America Greenland a territory the control of which is strategically vital to the defense of North America.
(Greenland is where Both Chinese and Russian land based ICBM's at most easily tracked and shot down being half way between launch sites and North American cities. It is also vital to controlling the north Atlantic and arctic ocean. Instead they play around with a few thousand escmos who couldn't defend the island even if they wanted to. - 1 y
Nah, man, I would compare this to ‘Nam. We aren’t even sending troops over there. Also, irrational fear of Communism in some country on the other side of the world is a foolish cause. Protecting a sovereign democracy from the aggressions of an autocrat next door, attacked for zero good reason, is the EXACT type of thing we should strapping up for war over, and ts impressive we made it this long just financially backing the effort with no boots on the ground. The worst possible outcome of this is letting Putin think he can take territory and the US will allow it. That’s our role in the world, to stop that, like or not. The alternative of letting it happen to others weakens us and will eventually bite us directly. You CANNOT let Putin slide, at any cost.
- 1 y
@monorprise there’s no Mexican drug war. Trump is trying to do tough sounding shit to look like a bad ass, but he’s not a serious person. Europe doesn’t own Greenland, Denmark alone does, and they’re under no obligation to just hand it over because we want it and we’re bigger than them. That’s fucking crazy to expect.
Europe is very much a part of this, and no one but Ukraine is doing the fighting, the support is all monetary and moral. That’s a pretty good deal, to stand up to a tyrant. Remember it doesn’t just end with Ukraine, and everything is OK for America if Ukraine falls. Like I said, this is a green light for many bad actors.
Even selfishly speaking, remember America isn’t just doing this purely out of concern for Ukraine, this benefits us too. There’s ALWAYS something in it for Uncle Sam, “the big guy”, lmao. - 1 y
@monorprise Even all this USAID stuff everyone is bitching about…. thats about international relations and diplomacy and access to resources. When a opera with a trans-character goes on at Universidad De Bogota or something, Colombia will remember that America is a donor to their educational institutions, and when China or Russia come knocking and looking for a deal on some resource they have, they say “sorry, we already promised that to the US.”
Same thing with Ukraine. Don’t you want access to those “rare earth minerals” that are apparently important to technological advancements we’re trying to make? Or do you just want to roll over and let Putin take it, and sell some of it to China?
It’s like you guys never think through “and THEN what happens?” You don’t think we just walk away from this and everything continues going great for us, do you? And I SURE hope you don’t think any savings America makes are going to be passed on to YOU, just lmfao. At best, they’ll send you a $5,000 bribe that won’t change your life, but you’ll say “sure, Elon, just set business up to favor you and fuck the workers, and I’ll enjoy a GREAT 1-3 months with extra cash in my pockets before that dries up and I start taking Elon’s metaphorical dick in my ass for the next few decades of my working life, which should be until death, once they come for my Social Security money.” - 1 y
@WhiteSteve
Nobody is entitled to a territory they won't or can't defend. The U. S. has done that job for Denmark for almost 100 years now while Denmark has infantilize the island into their welfare state.
If the island were of little value and there were no major threats to the island Greenland could be independent or remain in danish hands but that is not the case with this island.
Do Denmark steps up to the plate and defends the island properly or we need to take it to defend American interest as recognized for 157 years now. Given the 203 year old Monroe doctrine we should take the island.
- 1 y
@monorprise But American interests aren’t the inalienable top priority. A world exists beyond America. And they matter as much as we do.
This is real life, not a game of Risk. - 1 y
@WhiteSteve I am well aware that much of the world has an interest in dominating the rest, and that some like China, Russia, and formerly Europe has the means to actually do that.
That doesn't mean a sane country that has the ability to prevent them by say taking strategically valuable territory like Greenland should let them hold onto it instead.
You need to stop pretending your somehow above your own interest and 'neutral' your not really neutral. You have an agenda even if that agenda is ultimately your own destruction, or a pawn of someone else's.
A deal is between parties with the power to not use said power against each-other in recognition of the fact that the effort would do more harm than good such as the current war in the Ukraine is demonstrating.

Not sure, based upon how he acted, Ukraine should have sent a diplomat rather than the president.
If Russia really does want all of Ukraine they won't agree to an even temporary peace if they know it will be followed by borders enforced by militarizes Russia can't beat. So the peace garrentee Ukraine is looking for is probably self-defeating.

Then Trump is working his deal and that isn't so certain.

If you don't want it there has to be an American involvement. Don't waste your time like you did with a certain dude in Germany, and only wait until something of yours is attacked to get involved.
Really crazy how conservatives think just ignoring the issue will be the way to solve it. And I am so glad Trump has some common sense to know that not to be true, and knows that this war could last a long time even become a Ww3 if not agreed on ending.
00 Reply2.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I have never understood why we are involved in the war between Russia and Ukraine in the first place.
And $600 billion dollars later all that's been accomplished is dead people by the thousands of more, and Biden helped kill them by giving Zelinski not only money but tanks and other equipment to kill the Russians.

1 yOnly a Russian asset, like Scump, would be oblivious as to why the Soviet snakes should NOT be allowed to march across Europe, or invade a sovereign nation. This could have been avoided going back to Scumper's first term, by standing UP to Russia, but again, he's their asset.
The border buildup put Biden and the USA in a bad position, but it was a strategic error to NOT rally all of the EU to send their own tanks, line them up at the border, at stop Russia right there. Now you just want them to cede land and lay down. Who the fuck knows what Scumper would do if it actually came down to "choosing a side" if Europe forced the issue. He's a traitor, and he'd probably side with his master, Putin.

Anonymous(25-29)1 ySorry you consider resisting dictators and keeping promises to be a waste of time.
If U. S. wanted to back out because it was clearly a losing battle, or because we didn't want to lose U. S. soldiers lives, or just pass the baton over to another country to send aid, that's one thing. Kind of a jerk move at this stage, but understandable.
Backing out because Ukraine won't kiss our ring, won't surrender to Russia, and suddenly blaming Ukraine for the whole war, is crazy. Delusional. Makes us look like allies to Russia and supporters of dictator, rather than allies to our actual allies.
Like the awful pull out with Biden administration, it isn't so much what he did as how he did it. Trump massively fumbled here, to the point most of the free world openly insults and denounces his handling of the situation. Our reputation took a huge and damaging blow just because of his attitude about it, regardless whether he actually pulled aid or not.

Also, I can see that many ignorant people in here lack knowledge about history:
The Crimean peninsula was originally Russian, not Ukrainian - both ethnically and historically.
It was transferred to the Ukraine in 1954, by the decision of Nikita Khrushchev.
Those who say that "Crimean peninsula is Ukrainian" - Are people who support the decision of the communist dictator!

That like America being unable to deal with Mexico.
Opinion Owner1 y@goaded That is debatable and was regardless for much if not most of Mexican history historically untrue.
The only difference between Mexico and Russia in this regard is these united States have never been weak enough for Mexico's incompetent Government to challenge.
That doesn't change the fact that Mexicans still talk of reconquesta and have actively conspired with both drug lords and illegal immigrants to flood America for that propose.
Mexico has long been more a subordinate than friendly neighbor. When American turned its back on Mexico, historically it didn't take a lot before Mexico will try to stab us in the back.
Europe knows this all to well hence why we believed the Zimmermann telegram.
Canada is closer to what you might call a friend but Eastern Canada deepdown is not that different than Mexico. They are inherent anti-American and resentful thou for less persuasive reasons. They too will stab us in the back when they think they can get away with it.
America has 'friendly' neighbors because the neighbors know what will happen to them if they get out of line. That is also why America has large neighbors as they know they would be completely dominated otherwise.
