Lately, life seems to be all about "hurry up and wait." Do you agree?

"Hurry up and wait" was a phrase I first learned in the military. We'd get all dressed up for a thing and then stand there and wait. 20 minutes early, turns to 1 hour early, then another group says 1 hour early to the early muster, then another group gets concerned and we have to show up 1 hour early to the 1 hour early muster. Now we're ready for a 6am muster at 4:20am... waiting... then the Campatin shows up late by like 3 hours... just sitting around waiting.

What for? So he can tell us we look good and to not drink and drive this weekend.

It makes a man like me question why I got up at 2am after drinking myself to sleep against my own will and 4pm the day before. I could've hit the gym or did stuff. No... dress up and sit around.

That’s called waiting either for the government or at the doctors office. It drives me crazy when someone expects you to be somewhere early but there is no reward for it because they are always late. Doctors I can cut some slack if there is a emergency but anywhere else pisses me off especially because most people are cranky and rude. People who can’t work in the private sector work in the public sector. Not all by any means many are great people I would probably be a cranky ass too if I had to work there.

You just made me think about aggressive drivers who are in a rush to get somewhere because they don’t know how to prioritize their time.

Then I envisioned a car flipping off the road into a ditch. Talk about an awakening…

@date_a_snob hmm - post Covid and before Covid - I did sense life was busier. However "I" was also growing up further 20s so it "was actually" getting busier in both world contexts and personal me me me contexts. Lol 😆 and I'm still surviving at 30 going on 31 (thank you Jennifer Garner and Ruffalo lol). Movie similarity.

I think the easy way to become Easy breezy like the cover girl commercials lol they say easy breezy Covergirl lol is to be cool, calm and coping mechanism dreamy ('hell, I can always think there's an afterlife someday to make up for lost time') - lol

Yeah especially at my job, they rush me out of the yard because of yard time is being timed and send me to a place that doesn’t open for another half hour and I have to wait when I get there yet they are worried how long it takes me to get going there🤔

We all thought computers would make decisions more promptly but all it does is make more time wasting on apps and electronic document flipping

Bureaucracy implies it is all the fault of the government, which isn't true. People have to wait at doctors' offices, the hairdresser, fast food restaurants, etc.

Where's the hurry then? Unless it is important yet have to wait. Restaurants or hairdresser don't require a hurry.

I don't have to hurry up and wait, my brain warps time. Like sometimes I have no concept of time at all and it flys by so fast.
