Dad Dunked 4-Year-Old in Scalding Hot Water as Punishment

A South Carolina man, Wilbur Fields, 35, has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for the brutal punishment that led to the death of his 4-year-old daughter, Hope Fields. The sentencing took place on March 3, a little over a year after Fields was charged with the murder of his young daughter.

In February 2024, Fields and his wife, Fifi Hill-Fields, 32, were arrested after they brought their daughter to the hospital with severe first-degree burns. The child was unresponsive upon arrival and was put on life support for two days before she tragically succumbed to her injuries.

Fields confessed to authorities that he had punished Hope for a bathroom accident by immersing her in scalding hot water. Hill-Fields, who was also charged with murder, is currently awaiting her next court date. According to court documents, she allegedly admitted to being present during the punishment and was aware of the harm inflicted on her daughter.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott revealed during a press conference that the police were notified by hospital staff on February 16, 2024, about a 4-year-old girl who had been admitted with “severe burns, broken bones” and had suffered “cardiac arrest a couple of times on the way to the hospital.”

Sheriff Lott also disclosed that there were three other children in the house at the time of the incident, two of whom had witnessed their sister’s horrific ordeal. He added that the mother had stood by and watched the punishment unfold. When Hope was taken off life support two days after her admission to the hospital, her parents were not present. Instead, three police investigators were there to ensure the child was not alone in her final moments.

The couple’s other three children were removed from the home by the Department of Social Services. These children provided investigators with crucial information about the abuse their sister had endured.

Bury him under the jail, after letting him get some “attention” with a broomstick.

Some sicko did this to her son in my city back when I was in high school. Boiled his arms as punishment for supposedly misbehaving (she was a junkie, I’m not really taking her word on that🤨), and they found the kid handcuffed to a friggin’ radiator, where he’d been for days. Thank god they found the kid. That kid is probably in his 20s now, and his psychological profile must be all fucked up.

Disgusting. I don’t even really like kids, in terms of being around them or wanting to be a parent, but…. we were all kids once. How the hell could ANYONE do stuff like that? To anyone, but especially a kid.

My faith in humanity dips lower every day😞

First they need to be fixed so no more offspring and volunteer to do so.

So now you got 3 kids in foster care without parents. ugh.

I can relate to being angry at kids for what they do or don't do, but never did that. Being parent is hard job when under stress financial, relational, 4 kids, job, etc. What was going on?

I'd have to hear more details to judge and I'm glad don't have to. To me, it's relevant.

Is an example how someone can screw their life inside of a few seconds and others. Won't be the last unfortunately, this story just started.

I would say go medieval on them and do the same to both parents , let them heal , then repeat a few times for good measure and then execute them. It s probably good I m not a judge

What the absolute fuck? He gets steamed to death. The steam doesn't kill the nerve endings, so you can slowly be steamed to death over 20 minutes. He'd feel every minute

If I was in prison with this guy... I'd kill him. He wouldn't make it one night in a cell with me. Reading this did nothing but induce rage out of me. The question is, what would I sentence this guy? I'd kill him if I was the judge. If I can't I'd send him to prison and put a bounty on his head. Kill this child killer and I'll pay you 2k with no problem... plus I'm the God damn judge, your sentence if you get caught... will probably be time off. If I can't do that I will stuff your cantein money like never before.

I will make him pluck his nails and bite off his own fingers one by one before cauterising with molten iron. Once I am done with the pleasantries intubate him and pour sulphuric acid down his wind pipe till it slowly travels down his body and seeps out of his every orifice and pour. Meanwhile setting him on fire while he is conscious by spraying gasoline.

(And to do it all publicly and make an example out of him)

I would setup a poll with 50 cruel execution methods and watch. 50 years is definitely to mild if you include amnesties and possibility of early end of the sentence

I would be a person who believes in eye for eye and tooth for tooth.

Reciprocal and Karma based punishments.

Use science to devise the exact percentage needed to replicate what the child went through but for that of the adult, and scald them with the water the same way they had.

People commit less crimes if there’s a true punishment. Prison is just a vacation spot for most people.

Im no judge so I cannot say but many of these commenters would hate to executed for their crimes or sins so tread carefully. Kids just in recent history have been executed for stealing bread to feed them or their families. Thats cruel injustice.

There's absolutely no limit to how much destruction of this person that could match what he deserves. What kind of evil and mind warped obscenity could get this into his head for "punishment" of a toddler?

Seems like there ought to be some kind of mental sanity test for adults who become pregnant in order to protect children.
