How do you feel about Scott Turner pick for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development?

Scott Turner was confirmed to be the Secretary of HUD in Donald Trump's administration. Senate confirmed him 55-44, with all Republicans and two Democrats (John Fetterman of Pennsylvania and Peter Welch of Vermont) voting to confirm him, with one senator (Angela Alsobrooks of Maryland) being absent.

Before that Turner was an American football player, playing as a cornerback. Growing up in Texas, he moved to Illinois to study at University of Illinois and played for college football team there from 1990 till 1995, graduating in 1995 with a degree in speech communications. After that he became a professional player at NFL, where he played for Washington Redskins, San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos, in total for 9 years.

In 2006, while still living in San Diego, where he played for San Diego Chargers, Turner ran in election for California's 50th congressional district as a Republican, but lost in the primaries. After retiring from sport, he moved back to Texas and in 2012 was elected to Texas House of Representatives, representing Texas 33th House district, that covers parts of Dallas north-eastern suburbs. He served 4 years in the legislature. After that, in 2019, President Donald Trump appointed Turner as the director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council, where he served until the end of Trump's first term.

Turner is married, and he and his wife raised his nephew, who also studied and played football at University of Illinois. He is a Baptist and serves as an associate pastor at his church.
