How do you feel about the death of congressman Sylvester Turner?

Sylvester Turner was a Democratic freshman congressman, who represented Texas 18th district (that included most of downtown Houston) since January 2025. Before that he was the mayor of Houston from 2016 till 2024, and before that he served in Texas House of Representatives for 27 years. In US Congress he suceeded representative Sheila Jackson Lee, who also died last year. In the past Turner struggled with bone cancer, although in 2022 he described himself as "cancer free". He was 70 years old.

This is a significant loss for the country. Some of his last public words were to protect peoples health insurance, talking about stopping trump from stealing Medicaid. We don't need to loose sane people right now. May he be at well earned peace.

Losses from cancer are tragic. My family has 3 and 2 ongoing unresolved close calls. I didn't like Lee but she didn't deserve to die.
