It is in the UK's best interest to maintain stability in their own region and to suppress Russia, furthermore USA has proven itself to be an unreliable partner in both trade, military and politics which means that friendship becomes impossible to maintain. China is on the other side of the world and not an imminent concern inside Europe. To handle Russia you need to defeat them in Ukraine or the war is coming home to the UK. If your argument is national security then supporting Ukraine is more important than maintaining an alliance with USA.

As for having an alliance for 100 years? Neat. Countries does not have permanent friendships or enemies though. The best of "friends" will backstab each other if the circumstances change. Countries are not people, they are soulless and emotionless machines driven by what is best for itself.
