Personally as a dem, i can completely be friends with trump supporters as long as they're not like unironically misogynistic or racist. but i couldnt date one (i can date a non maga republican or libertarian if they're chill but not maga)

There was a time when I could, but the whole MAGA thing…. you have to be stupid or be a terrible person to support it, maybe both. Even the people who admit to Trump’s bad stuff…. they’re ACCEPTING that, and hence enabling the bad behavior and terrible values he brings to the table.

Like the “I know he’s not a great guy, but I just want lower gas and grocery prices” crowd…. let me say it with my full chest: FUCK. YOU.🖕🖕You sold out human rights for money, AND our democracy, and I could never, ever forgive that. Trump is currently wiping his ass with the U. S. Constitution, you are downright un-American and a traitor to this nation if you support any of his bullshit. And ten times that to the people who think he’s fucking awesome. You’re all fucking animals as far as I’m concerned, and I truly mean that.

I wouldn’t be friends with a rapist or child molester, but I also would never be friends with someone who was knowingly friends themselves with a known rapist or child molester, and they just let it slide because they both like fantasy football or something. If you’re cool with that, then I’m just better than you, plain and simple, and I don’t need to be friends with anyone like that, and I DAMN SURE wouldn’t vote for them to hold political positions. I wouldn’t even let my kids be around people like that, if I had them. That’s just straight up moral depravity that I’d be fine seeing eradicated from the Earth, hopefully just the attitudes, but the actual people, if necessary. I’ve never been so disgusted with humanity.

So being friends with MAGA folks is just enabling absolute horrible societal attitudes that I’m so fucking ashamed are even crossing my fellow Americans’ minds in the first place, let alone being accepted as a reasonable opinion to hold publicly. It’s just absolutely disgusting, and shocking, and I’m just not so desperate for friendship or to be liked on this website to ever compromise my own values and moral principles. I’m just so much better than that, I won’t do it.

No. The last time I attempted to do that I was falsely accused and served an ex parte PPO 🤷🏻‍♂️ hired the best lawyer in the country and took her to court where all I could do was slap myself in the forehead with a civil temporary restraining order and eventually drop out of college. Never again will I pursue a liberal woman. They’re all the same. They only care about themselves and are too fucking fragile

yes. i am. but i do not share my political beliefs. because those with opposite opinions would completely disown me as a friend. so i keep quiet as they spew their hate. i truly don't get it. let others have their own opinion. it's not worth ruining a friendship over. or a relationship.

reading the opinions below about my choice of policies just make me shake my head. you say how much my party is "stupid and full of hate" yet i never say anything stupid or full of hate. it's always the other party that is always saying so much awful stuff. so sorry my views differ from you, you need to grow up and allow others to have their own mind. lord... it's okay! !

I could but it completely depends. I am independent when it comes to politics. If you are reasonable when it comes to your preferred political party sure dating and friendship is fine but if you are far right or far left on the spectrum I don't think I will get along well them. I dislike people who blindly following any political party or leader without questioning them at all. Every politician has a motive.

That depends on the parties and where you're located. If you're asking about the USA today, there ARE no opposite "parties"; there are opposite moral positions in many cases but mostly there's "identity politics" and nothing more.

The divide has grown so wide that there's no way I would even CONSIDER dating or making a "new friend" of the opposing moral position.

I used to think that if somebody's politics differed from mine than they did and it wasn't particularly important to me. However, that has changed if someone is so blinded or so selfish or so. Unable to think critically that they actually favor Trump and support him and would vote for and voted for him I really want nothing to do with them.
