Vey poorly, that's how. I'm glad I am no longer a teacher. Things will get very bad for them, and I'm happy I never encouraged my daughters to become teachers. They could have as it's their life, but they saw the work I had to do every night just to have a better day at school the following day.

Without the support of Federal programs, teachers will have to continue to still buy THEIR OWN supplies to make teaching better. What will happen to books that are needed? Supplies and maps, charts, and so on? Forget Unions--they will be out as well, not sure, but now teachers will not be protected against accusations that have no proof of being a poor teacher.

Did you know how to teach your students how to read and write?

My students were special education students, and most of them were also dyslexic. The only way I was able to teach them to read, was using an approach, not a program, based on something called Orton Gillingham. This is a way of teaching dyslexics who to read. I taught kids with autism, kids with learning disabilities, and those with varying mental challenges how to read. My training (2 years, including summers) was paid for by state grants given to my district.

What about them? I worked only in public schools. We relied on state programs to help teachers.

It means that you don't give the money to schools, you give the money to parents. The money is in the form of a voucher and they could spend it at any type of school they want. If they want to spend their voucher at a public school, then go for it. If they want to spend their voucher at a private school then go for it. This would eliminate the entire mess we're in.

It's not the bureaucrats they'll miss. And by the way, 4,400 admin people serving 50 million kids doesn't exactly seem like overkill. More like under funding. That's one employee for 11,400 kids. But that doesn't tell the whole story. Most of the help goes to poor, rural areas that struggle with little state funding in our shithole red states. Yup, MAGA country. But I digress. The part they're gonna miss is the federal funding that DOE oversees.

So, go ahead and pull the plug on funding for these shithole MAGA havens. That means less of my tax dollars helping keep those lost causes out of poverty.

Not American. I have my doubts that funding in anyway correlates positively to better education results. In my the evidence is there is a negative correlation between funding and results.

I went to a crap country primary school and got a better ed at that level than in city. Chalk and a blackboard is all that is needed

The problems with the DOE are 1) they have been pushing blue state ideology on red states, and 2) their policies have made the state of education in America horrible. Our children are NOT getting a good education. The US ranks very poorly compared to other nations in educational attainment. That's unacceptable.

The states can do a much better job of running their schools and educating their kids the way voters in their respective states actually want them to be. Getting the federal government out of education will be a net positive.

Guiding them? Are you fucking joking? All the DOE does is control state education. It literally doesn't help in any way, but plenty of harm.

I live in the best managed state in the nation. Our local government understands MUCH better than the federal government what our voters want and how to EFFECTIVELY educate our kids. We do a great job of it IN SPITE OF the federal government, but we could do an even better job if they would get the fuck out of our way and let us do what our state population wants our state government and education system to do.

Those 4,400 federal employees cost US taxpayers more than a quarter of a billion $ every year, and they have resulted in an utter failure in education of US children. Our kids and their parents deserve better. The future of our nation depends on our education system doing a MUCH better job than it's been doing. I will throw a fucking party when the DOE gets disbanded for good.

My daughter works in the public school classrooms for handicapped with all types of handicaps together, deaf-blind and mentally handicapped adhd with paras to help and not much if anything is taught the most that happens is they are chasing kids all over besides being assaulted by some of these children all this in a school with regular students... What is needed is more teachers trained in handling these children. They need teachers, not 4,400 useless bodies paying tribute to Randy Weingarten sitting in offices collecting paychecks for either doing nothing or sitting at home for years doing nothing but collecting a paycheck. We need teachers, not useless office workers collecting a paycheck.
