The Founders were revered by the people and were scared about their population too.

”We The People” and “With certain unalienable rights endowed by their Creator” definitely rings a bell as ‘revered by the people’ in my heart.

If you look through Presidential Elections, you’ll find less portions of the American public cast a ballot in the US Election and has been growing ever since as freedoms expanded.

The Founders respected the people but also recognized the dangers of mob rule. That’s why they built a constitutional republic with checks and balances, rather than a direct democracy. They wanted to ensure that power rested with the people, but also that it was channeled through a stable system to prevent chaos.

I'd say the channel got corrupted by special interest money

You’re absolutely right—the channel meant to carry the will of the people through a stable system has been heavily corrupted by special interest money. That’s one of the biggest challenges we face today: not that the Founders’ framework was flawed, but that it’s been hijacked by those who learned how to exploit it.

The solution isn’t to discard the system altogether, but to restore integrity to it—by reducing the influence of money in politics, enforcing transparency, and holding elected officials accountable to the people again.

Scared shitless. Many times in us history the rule of the mob proved dangerous. The founding fathers were history students of the Roman empire, how many times in its history 400Bc- 1453 BC did the mob endager Rome or readdress a tyrannical injustice.

Scared shitless of the mob. If you notice most state capitals of 13 colonies are intentionally NOT the major cities but in the interior of each state After the French revolution it reconfirmed this view. for rest of USA. I mean c'mon, Sacramento? Albany? Tallahassee? Harrisburg?

They obviously revered them, otherwise they wouldn't have thought to have a second amendment if they know that their population would misuse them in massive numbers.

For some reason, it never "backfired" until well over 200 years later.

Yes. As Warren Berger so elegantly put it " there has never been a greater fraud perpetrated on the court and the American people"

@OddBeMe people had warships called privateers back then, our founding fathers had no problem with that. I guess I can't fault you for not knowing that, you haven't had a revolutionary war lesson in like 25 years.

Fine you can have muskets and cannons, but no machine guns!

What difference does the type of gun make, people can still fire upon public places with muskets and kill people. Private gun ownership was so accepted back then that kids brought guns to school because there were firearm clubs.

Why are mass shootings a problem NOW?

Semiautomatic rifles and SMGs were used in WW1. Why didn't we have a columbine situation until almost 90 years later?

Nothing was stopping people from shooting up schools or any other public place even then. What changed?
