Why can't Conservatives see their hypocrisy re:Capitalism? Are they THAT stupid? Is it denial for convenience? Do they really believe in anything?

So for the last few decades with, actual Republicans, then the Tea Party, then MAGA, the Conservative "brains" have extolled the evils of govamint and the perfect decision making of a free market with an absolute cultish devotion to Capitalism.

Let's get govamint out of business. The market is always right. We don't need govamint adding bureaucracy. OK so that's their ahem "intellectual" position.

Well wait a minute. Now that their Orange Jesus has ascended to the throne, the same Conservative "brains" are cheering for tariffs, the absolute dumbest form of govamint price supports and intervention in their Capitalist free market Utopian fantasy. So now they like govamint bureaucracy calling the shots. Suddenly they don't think a Capitalist free market has made the best decisions for them. They believe Orange Jesus (an imbecile) is better equipped to make those decisions in a centralized (Communist) fashion.

So these imbeciles are either...

1.) Liars and hypocrites

2.) Don't actually believe in anything.

3.) Don't understand anything about govamint or economics.

4.) Or, they are utterly blind to their own hypocrisy in a classic display of Dunning Kruger cognitive dissonance.

No its not like you see it, but I can imagine why its like that if your not familiar with the modern conservative moment. Its currently a diverse groups, you have all the groups and reactions your saying but its not the same ones doing the same reactions.

For example if you have an anarcho capitalist or libertarian type who is extremely pro capitalism in a "Private company can do whatever it wants way" they will always cheer for letting company's do whatever they want. But its a subset, people like me want to use the state to keep the large corporations in check because otherwise you get corporations with very dictatorial actions and to much power.

there's also nationalist types, they will cheer things on that involve protecting nationalist interests.

And of course a lot of in between. So the right wing politician has to strike a balance between deregulating and protecting the interests of the nation and especially its citizens.

So for someone who claims that the right wing isn't intellectual you don't have a very informed take.

Yes, the "Conservative Movement" and Republican Party are a diverse coalition of every batshit crazy libertarian, sovereign citizen, White supremacist, religious extremist, nationalist, authoritarian, anti social, flat earther, vermin in the country. Be honest, these people aren't intellectuals, they are imbeciles. And trying to herd or pander to that collection of misfits is impossible. So there is no real conservative movement or Republican Party. It's a loose coalition of conspiracy believing anti intellectual, anti science, extremists who can't even get along with each other. They don't understand government or economics or technology. And they are filled with hate. Republicans welcomed them into their tent. White supremacists aren't liked by the right, they are called right wing by the left but the right doesn't want them on their side either but will at least defend their right to speak. That goes for a lot of these in your list by the way where right wingers aren't like this but because its the more tolerant side those people will identify right wing even if its a minority. The only ones I recognize is common in right wing circles are nationalists and people wanting less government. You can do 4 questions. 1: Should a government stick to its borders? 2: Should the size of the government be reduced? 3: Are white people superior? 4: Is the earth flat. Assuming the right winger takes your questions as good faith instead of an insult for the last 2 the outcome should be : 1. Yes. 2. Yes. 3. No. 4. No. for the majority of answers.

There is a need for government to manage a military and to fill potholes and hopefully make the trains run on time. However excessive business regulations prevent the US from competing successfully with other countries and to provide enough good paying jobs to support a large middle class.
President Trump went to some of the states that were affected by hurricanes last year. He found that people were trying to rebuild their destroyed homes but months later were still trying to get permits from the local government to rebuild. This type of thing is totally unacceptable. If the government cannot respond to something like this in a timely fashion they need to get the hell out of the way,

Man you people are dumb. Yes, tariffs are punitive tools, weapons. In the form of an artificial price support for domestic producers to discourage the import of foreign goods.

The exporting country pays exactly zero pennies of that tariff. Importers pay all of that tax on the things they import. Then they pass that tax on to you. You theoretically stop buying the imported product and buy the domestic product instead. But the market price has now been raised to the actual cost of the imported product + the tariff.

The result is supposed to be higher prices and more sales for domestic producers while foreign exporters simply lose sales. But they can go sell their stuff to anyone else they want. You are stuck buying more expensive stuff here at home. You have no other options. Voila, instant inflation for you. And you love it.

Yeah, those two terms actually do describe what a tariff is. It’s a defensive strategy to protect domestic industries by penalizing imports with a tax (weaponizing) that creates higher prices so the domestic producer can compete.

It’s supposed to be used to combat unfair trade practices like dumping product below cost to drive competitors out of the market. Not as a general extortion scheme. tRump being a criminal only sees it as a tool for extortion.
