Which public restroom should Dads take young Daughters and babies in?

There was one day my Husband had to take our six year old Daughter and one year old Son to the Mall alone and bathroom time was a nightmare.
We feel our Daughter is still too young to be in the public bathroom alone so my Husband went in the Men’s bathroom but all the stalls were in use, so he was forced to go in the Women’s bathroom and walked her to the stall and then waited by the exit door for her to finish and wash her hands. There is no changing tables in Men’s bathrooms so he had to go in Women’s bathroom for the baby’s diaper change. He said he got bad looks by some of the women in the bathroom, but it was unfair because he had no choice but to go in there. Another reason unisex bathrooms would be more convenient.

I was in an airport and a dad came into the women's restroom with his daughter that was 10-11 years old. I had absolutely no problem with him being in there. My brother said a dad brought his 12 year old daughter in the men's room at a mall and I could understand why he did it. She just stood my the sinks while her dad was at the urinal. I am not sure what the other men thought about it. What is a Dad suppose to do? He can't leave her outside the restroom and he takes a chance bringing her in a large men's room where there are many men. I am not sure what a man should do with his daughter.

If it was me seeing a Man walk in with a child I would understand and not even think twice about it. I feel my Husband made the right choices given the situation.

@paige90 My Husband would never use a woman’s bathroom for himself! Just for our Daughter to go or change the baby. There were women using the bathroom, if you can’t handle pee and poop sounds you don’t belong in a public bathroom we all have to go 😂

People usually just use the adult's restroom as more people consider it generally more important to separate adults of the opposite sex than from young children of the opposite.

If you are worried, ANY mom going in would GLADLY guide & supervise her if you just ask - I've done it countless times and NEVER gotten a no but did get hit upon! 😁🤣😂

He shouldn't be in the women's room under ANY circumstances. There's better solutions than that. He did have a choice.

As far as diaper change I've changed my kids on the floor / table / lap / hood of car / whatever worked. It sux BUT I ALWAYS complained to mgmt that there's no changing table in men's room. In almost all cases I was rewarded by seeing a changing table next time we were there.

If there's no changing table in the men's room, and no unisex bathroom with a changing table, you take care of your one year old wherever there's a changing table! The tables are often set in a little nook in the women's room, and if they're not, too bad for the "grown ups in the women's room". It's not like the guy is peering into the stalls or busting down doors; he's taking care of his child.

I haven't seen any unisex bathrooms that are more than single occupancy. It's fine for a family like you described, but impractical for a large amount of people who may need to use the facilities.

They fold up when not in use, and the unisex any pronoun ones generally also have a changing table in them.

I don’t know what public bathrooms you go to but here you have to get in quick or they are all taken.
