Should a mom always shower baby girls and not the fathers?

I seen this video we’re a dad was bathing this little girl. It wasn’t a baby. And all the comments said that it wasn’t okay Even if it was her dad. I was surprised of the amount of moms that said dad shouldn’t shower little girls ( daughters) because they shouldn’t touch their private parts and that’s how things begin unfortunately sometimes.

When too young to bathe themselves it doesn't matter who does it, but I'd be more uncomfortable having my dad do it, so I don't agree about the same sex thing making it more appropriate.

In either case, no one really needs help washing their genitals, sitting in the tub does that automatically, and you aren't supposed to use soap down there, because it causes infections, so neither the mom nor the dad should be touching their privates, regardless of child gender.

That said, I hardly think washing your kids hair or back is inapproprate, and thats really the only parts children struggle with at first.

When they are old enough to bathe themselves, but still young, you should periodically check to make sure they are ok by knocking on the door and asking, but privacy is deserved, and neither parent should be the room with them unless the child actually needs help.

Wouldn’t bother me any if it were the dynamic if I had my own family. I’d rather just fill the bathtub to a safe level and temperature, put the bubbles and toys in, and just let the kids play while I wait outside the door and watch something on my phone but keep an ear out and occasionally check in on them so they aren’t in danger.

i think there should be an equal effort. and once the child is old enough to choose a preference of mom or dad. parenting is teamwork and one partner shouldn't be responsible for every thing. what if the only option was for dad to bathe the baby for a few nights? and then he was completely clueless? not good.

Why not? I'm sure my dad bathed me when I was little and I know he bathed my little sister too. Nothing sexual about it. It would be creepy if he or my mom bathed her at 12 though.

Oh, and it's okay for mothers to bathe baby boys, right? Double standard. It doesn't matter until the baby stage is over. Then it would be more appropriate for same-sex bathing until they learn to do it by themselves.

Nope. Both parents can do that. Both can (and should) bathe, change diapers, and do everything else.

Both parents should be able to bathe their child regardless of gender. People who have problems with fathers bathing their baby daughters are the ones with issues.

Both can wash/shower babies, whatever the sex is. When the baby grows out of babyhood, same sex parent should shower and then let them do it by themselves.
