What's the reason a baby girl prefers the dad instead of mom?

Obviously my parents both love me equally but as a baby and toddler, I would prefer dad over mom.

As a baby, my parents sometimes took turns pretending to leave. When mom held me, dad said "bye baby" and closed the door, I would start crying seconds later. If dad held me and mom left, no reaction.

Is there a reason for this?

There are numerous facts why the father-daughter relation is very strong in early years but tends to move apart as girls grow older. By the way, the same applies to a closer bond between boys and their mothers in earlier years.

Austrian born neuroscientist Sigmund Freud has led a number of controversial experiments in that field and the famous "feminine Oedipus complex" where the daughter's attitude of desire for her father and hostility toward her mother is prevalent.

Also, daddies tend to be much less stricter with their baby girls and creates an additional bond because of that fact.

It does not mean that daddies love their baby girls more, it is simply a fact that girls are better at wrapping their fathers around their fingers than boys are.

maybe because the mom is always there. all the time. so the baby expects her to be back, every time. but for a dad... they're not around as much. so when the dad shows up and then leaves, the baby has no idea when or if he'll be back again.

Mama's boys and daddy's girls. Been that way forever.

They're attracted to the opposite sex. This is why so many very young children want to marry their parents. They should grow out of it by the time they reach school age, unless they're Gene Belcher from Bob's Burgers.

it's normal to go through phases were you prefer one parent over the other. pers been through phases were i strongly prefered my dad, then other times it was the opposite

Females has a general tendency to look for safety and father's were protectors from early days, well thanks to feminism that's over now

Mom would be the one staying home during my early infant years and dad would work but I would end up missing dad. She resumed work once I was old enough to start school.
