Why do some girls prefer dad bods?

This makes no sense to me. Why would a girl actually prefer a dad bod or a fit, athletic, muscular body.
You can come up with excuses like you dont want a guy thats obsessed with himself and that muscular guys are gym rats, but this is complete bs. Unless you're a professional bodybuilder you have something going on outside the gym, jobs and studies.
The only difference between a dad bod guy and a muscular guy is that one spends his freetime sitting on his bum and eating doughnuts while the other workouts and eats healthy, thats it.


So when you say you prefer a dad you're basically saying that you prefer a lazy guy. And if thats your preferences, thats okay. Just admit it and dont make stupid excuses to belittle guys that work hard to look great.

For me, it's just that dad bods are more aesthetically pleasing. I, myself, like to work out and wouldn't mind having a friendly competition with my man at the gym - but my personal preference is a dad bod. And there are different types of dad bods, doesn't really mean lazy and fat especially when these men with dad bods work hard at their steady jobs and put a lot of focus into family over physical appearance. Well, the ones I've personally known, at least.

Fit guys do the exact same thing, expect instead of spending their free time sitting on the couch eating ice cream they're at the gym taking care of themselves

Nowhere in my comment did I belittle fit guys - neither did I draw a comparison to suggest men with dad bods are far better. In fact, you're the one drawing comparisons and throwing insults at people. How about this: everyone has a type and it's vain and conceited to assume that just because you are fit and work hard that you're entitled to land the girl. It takes a lot more than working out and looking good to get and keep a girl. How's that for an assumption?

Although you make a very good point of laziness equals fat (which, in some cases, is true), the preferred word to use is priorities. It comes down to what the person values most in their life. This isn't to say that fit men only value their bodies due to narcissism, no. That absolutely has no bearing in any way. I'm sure we've all known different types of people on the weight scale. And to assume that all fat (or even just overweight) people are lazy and stuff their mouths with food all day is the very same thing as assuming fit (or thin) people are self-absorbed and stupid. My whole point from the beginning was specifying my personal preference aesthetically. But it's not cool to put a group of people down just because you feel entitled to something that you don't have the right to claim anyway.

As for women making excuses, maybe some do - but then why bother with them in the first place? Whatever happened to that saying "to each their own" - and if you can't find a decent girl who'll appreciate you for your hard work and determination at the gym then she's obviously not worth your effort, time or thought.

Just the same way that diff men like women of diff shapes and sizes , it is the same for women.
I personally like fit guys or at least someone slim, but I have good looking friends that are not attracted to fit guys... they like them chunky. They say it's like hugging a teddy bear.
I respect everyone's diff opinion, but I think know st if all it is a personal preference. Not necessary hating on people that's are fit.

Tbh for me, a dad bod is what I'm attracted too. And this is because I'm being realistic with my preferences. Yes a fit man also looks good, but none will be walking in my direction so I stick to what i know is realistic, and hence why i find it attractive. Also a fit guy would be going to the gym all the time and I'm just not that kinda girl and I don't like overly buff guys.

I'm simply not attracted to muscles... They are not aesthetically pleasing to me. They make you look like a brick wall and brick walls aren't cuddly. People with meat on their bones are cuddly. I also have no problem with people going to the gym, playing sports, or eating well, I just think there is a way to do that without getting unattractively ripped.

"unattractively ripped" is bodybuilder physique. There is no way you can attain it when you have a full time job.
If you play sports and eat healthy you won't have a dad bod.
It all comes down to how you spend your freetime and whether or not you're lazy

Thats fine, I can't knock your preferences. But it does annoy me when women start making up excuses to promote fat guys by claiming that muscular guys are douchebags, uneducated, stupid and can't hold on to a steady job.
Its more likely to be the other way around since it requires lots of discipline to be muscular.

OP it's because there are fit guys who are obsessed with their looks and probably secondary to a healthy lifestyle. Most but not all, and it is annoying since he is being vain.

Dad bods give off a more relax vibe ig just like an anon posted. But personally i don't like it since yes, they are lazy bums. Doesn't have to be ripped, since too much muscles are stiff and not appealing at all esp to touch. An in between is the best. Buy why would u say that girls promote fat guys? Isn't the other way around?

Guys that are overly ripped or muscular are intimidating. I admire their dedication but as someone I want to be with, not really.

Dad bods give off a more open, comfortable vibe. They're nice to snuggle up to, and it doesn't put that pressure on me having to look perfect next to you all the time.

As nice as it is to look at a muscular guy, a dad bod is warm and soft, but they can still open a jar. It's secure and comforting. That is my preference anyways.
