The Finnish President says Donald Trump is "losing Patience with" Putin for not agreeing to an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine. Opinions?

In past weeks, feelings ran high that Trump was siding with Putin in the ongoing war with Ukraine. Trump has been trying to get both sides to 'agree' on a ceasefire agreement, but Putin has failed to make good on some supposed agreement to an unconditional ceasefire.

I think Putin is going to come out on the short end of this negotiating 'stick' if he doesn't get his ass in gear and stop Russia's part in this ongoing conflict. News reports this morning said that Lindsey Graham is proposing some "bone crushing" sanctions on Russia if Putin fails to make good on his agreement to ceasefire and come to the negotiating table.

I would like to hear some good 'intelligent' comments and discussion rather than some 'seat of the pants' nonsense that usually follows a question like this.

Trump's problem is he promised the world he could end it in 24 hours and is now looking foolish. The problem is the world doesn't view things in terms of "deals". Zelenski knows after tens of thousands have died he can't roll on his back and tell their families it was for nothing and he's going to surrender to Putin and give Trump half their minerals. Putin on the other hand knows he still outnumbers Ukraine and statistics are on his side. You can't get someone to stop fighting if they think they're winning.

What Trump is hoping for is to set a modern day president. A large powerful country invades a small one then instead of surrender you strike a deal for their resources. I predict that this year we'll see a massive build up of us forces in Greenland followed by an offer of a deal that keeps Denmark in charge but gives America the mineral rights.

... I literally knew this would happen. Because this happens every time you try to negotiate with Putin and Putin has demonstrated that he is not interested in a peaceful solution to the war.

This whole peace negotiation has just been Putin seeing a weakness that he can exploit by making demands of Ukraine that undermine their position and help Russia in the war. Things like asking USA to stop intelligence sharing for example which Putin used to launch a major offensive and push Ukraine out of Kursk.

There is no chance for actual peace talks and there never was. The fact that Putin has been baiting Trump along on this goose-chase for this long is fucking embarrassing.

And no, Putin will not care about Trumps threats for secondary sanctions either, especially with their shadow fleet which has already been circumventing sanctions since the start of the war. This whole conversation is a complete waste of my time.

Unfortunately people ignore history or else it would have taught us that Russians have a long history of making agreements with allies and enemies alike purely to buy themselves time before taking an action that benefits, Russia. Russians have always been a people playing the long game. Question is, what is their long game? Another question few are openly asking … What is the Russian Navy up to? It was announced there will be a naval expansion.

I heard this today. President Trump is really trying to end this useless war and he is letting both Putin and Zelensky know of his frustration. He is willing to apply sanctions on Russia if Putin does not quit screwing around and put an end to the fighting.

I'm not sure why Putin is stalling but Graham needs to keep his back-stabbing butt out of it. Putin may just want a final impression of being in control and fall inline shortly. I think he is tired of the bullshit from nato and zelensky.

@alice55 I don't agree, Alice. I think Trump know what a despot that Putin is, and he is really trying to 'work' him the way he feels he has to to get any concessions from him on Ukraine. Both Putin and Zelenski are stubborn with what they want

Well it would help if Trump did not try to steal Ukraine rich territories. Because trying to teal the rich of Ukraine and then telling Zelensky to give up everything is not smart.
We can't talk with Putin though, Zelensky is pretty stubborn but Putin is ways worse I don't see him agreeing to anything except getting the whole of Ukraine. Putin have no want to stop now, the only things he want is Ukraine, getting rid of sanction and Europe / America stopping giving help to Ukraine. I highly doubt Trump would be able to talk him out of it.
