Why can't these nine or 10 unite, like u. s., in one parliament to manage the island chain?

Why is only u. s. successful at unity, people wanted to join, but everybody else crumbles, why?

Look at one island chain, like gilbert islands etc. We count them ten separate countries why can't they unite like u. s. by forming one parliament to manage all the islands?

Similarly the e. u. failed to unite into one government, just a trade cooperation that failed to satisfy the brits who wanted exit brexit. It broke too.

Similarly czechislovakia broke into slovak and another country. Separate government and sport teams,

I'm confused as what I know as the Gilbert islands are in Micronesia and are one country Kiribati.

The map seems to be of the Windies. They do unite as one cricket team an dominated in their day! It is difficult for island chains to unite because because there can be vast differences between them. In particular the colonial periods left different cultural backgrounds.

I'd say there has to be common culture and common economic interests for any union to form and it has failed in the past with the Windies.

a. easier to organize. b. tax money concentrated centralized, for larger budgets and wider projects.

The US started with a small Federal government and a lot of power was held at the state level. After 100 years, the North which had an industrial base wanted to impose its values on the South AND even more importantly they wanted to tax the south and were jerking around the south on trade and trade agreements. So there was a brutal war. The south was destroyed and the north rode roughshod over them for decades. Still the divide is there in politics and if the US does break up the split will happen there along with some other states seceding from the union.

So it hasn't been easy. Even in the EU Brexit has already happened. In 100 years there may be war. So it takes time and some will not get their way which may lead to violence. It is hard to do.

Those islands may not have a lot in common and their populations stay put rather than move around like in current day USA. This movement helps stitch a country together. So, e islands will definitely feel like their needs are not being addressed which will cause people to be disgruntled with the union. The union has to make things better and certainly not worse. So the question would be, how will it be better and what will be worse.

in simple words. in 1991 they were free from communism and had choice for first time elections. so why not one senate? i guess u. s. is just best #1.
