When I was a kid, I "played the ponies" meaning I would bet on horse races.
I was born near Aqueduct Raceway in Queens NYC and my grandparents lived walking distance away from there. So, when I was little (in the single digits) and stayed at my grandparents, I'd read the NY Daily News and handicap races. My grandmother taught me about it. Later, when I was a teen and OTB ("Off-Track Betting") was available, I sometimes would have adults place $2 bets for me. I wasn't too bad. But, I did go to the track with my father and neighbor quite often. My father though was into harness racing (pacers and trotters which pull a sulky in which the jockey rides). I was not. I preferred horse racing aka "the flats" or "flat tracks" which is the kind of horse races you see on TV for Triple Crown races.
At 62, I would appreciate the scientific and statistical analysis involved in betting on horses, but I am against horse and harness racing as a matter of principle. Still, I'd go to Saratoga during August every now and then when I lived in the Capital Distict of NY.
Other than that, I am against how sports betting has now permeated athletics. And I do not bet.
As a recovered gambler, not anymore and for years now not anymore
I don't know much about sports but they have so many bonuses and promotions and stuff for signing up that it's easy to make some money anyway.
I don't care people are free to do that they want with their money even if it (s dumb

Made my first and only bet on hockey last month since they spotted $200
Sure but it's more training to take losses than winning not that I'll complain about that outcome
Sports betting is stupid unless you're the guy fixing the games
I do. Although I view sports betting as an investment, I don't go overboard with it & have my limits
not anymore... especially not online, no apps
