They are going to lose access to this huge market. The US is china’s biggest customer. They won’t do well when cut off. Conversely, China limits the US in sales so it won’t hurt as much for the US. China loses.
Vietnam will have 0% tariffs for the US and factories from China will move there. China loses.
Global firms will realize that they must diversify their supply base from heavy reliance on China no matter what happens now China loses.China produced little 25 years ago and those factories can move again China will have economic unrest in their populace. China loses.

Exactly man. And I’ve literally already seen interviews of factory owners in China saying they’re pretty much absolutely fcked and there’s nowhere they can send their orders.
People seem to have this weird idea that they can just replace the US market - 1 y

It's too soon for China to actually take over but trust me they're loving every second of this. The damage from the tariffs is nothing compared to the shift in sentiment and trust towards the U. S. And China has a huge amount of U. S. Bonds.
They just need to wait until they feel like they're prepared. Until they feel like they can handle a drop in U. S. demand for their goods and they're ready to take on more responsibility.
Then they can sell the bonds at the right time when there's already a crisis going on and push the dollar off a cliff. Right now it's too early so they'll just wait and watch but one day it won't be too early. Trump is bringing that day a lot closer with every step he's taking.

Correct. China plans in centuries, not quarterly earnings or midterm elections.

@DrPepper12 General Patton Planned on winning each battle and didn't I think much about the outcome of the war. Tiger Woods is the same way He wins by the stroke not the hole or the game.
You do not tell your opponent what cards you have in your hand. you conceal them until you show. That is what President Trump is doing he has a plan And he's not going to tell you what it is.
The cream of the crop from both countries who can ride the wave. On an organized level, China has the unitarian control over its commodities that the US cannot build up as easily as a collective. I think it'd depend on which country can outdo self-sufficiency

1 yIn a trade war you seek out other markets to make up for one's you've lost. The problem is the USA is attacking everyone while China is seeking out new markets, most likely the ones Trump has pissed off.

China will do what they always do... agree, and cheat..."slowly squeeze the prey"... it is the year of the snake.

Trump is temporary and there isn't much of anyone to replace that denacity when he's gone. They just have to weather the storm. So they will cut a deal... they are not stupid, or rash and will avoid a fight. They might instigate and test. There could be threats around Taiwan as they continue to constrict it.
10 Reply 831 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. China has no moral issues with using child labor to lower production cost and make prices way more competitive
Pound for pound I would say it has an edge
Historically the US stayed in the fight by using media influence
American movies, shows, video games flooded the rest of the world and every kid wanted to wear a leather biker jacked and cowboy boots among other American products
These days the US propaganda machine is focusing on a niche audience and losing the general population which isn’t doing them any favors
But they can still turn this around

1 yAmerica wins in the long run—not just because we import more from China, but because under Trump’s leadership, we’re finally pushing back on decades of unfair trade practices.
Tariffs aren’t about chaos—they’re about leverage. China has relied on the U. S. market for years while manipulating currency, exploiting labor, and flooding our supply chains. Trump’s trade stance forces them to the table and brings manufacturing back home, where it belongs.
It’s not about winning a war—it’s about restoring balance and protecting our future.

Every year ships come into Duluth to load grain, corn and wheat to go to China and other countries. Plus, the fact that you take 2 to 300 billion dollars out of their economy they will be hurting in no time.
We have more than enough of everything to suit our needs, otherwise why would be sending so much of it overseas?42 Reply- 1 y

Anonymous(18-24)1 yThe US. China exports to the US but doesn't import that much and has levied tariffs on us goods for decades favouring their own domestic goods, the EU does the same. Free trade only works if everyone is doing the same.

1 yOf course China. It is the manufacturing hub of the world. USA cannot compete. USA has been a dumb greedy twat for the last 30 years letting China manufacturer everything for cheap, outsoursing has come back to bite the fat bitch in the ass. USA is going down for the first time.
20 Reply- 907 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
1 yNo one is going to win. The US is only 15% of Chinese all exports and other countries will step in and buy Chinese products. Their government can manipulate their economy to make up that 15% drop in exports and they'll be able to hold out longer.
30 Reply 2.8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I expect the US to win because they import a lot. Usually the importer is the strongest. That said china is a special case since they have manufacturing monopolies on stuff so that may have more severe damage on the US than a normal tarif would. So I do give the US the edge but with less certainty.

One question: What happens when they sit out our treasury auctions?
- 1 y
@DrPepper12 what percentage of US Treasurys does China currently hold?
- 1 y
They should indeed be forced to pay reparations for all the damage COVID caused.
In the past, the CCP would buy a few things when trade matters were under discussion (pre-WTO), but any promises to buy more things are useless and unenforceable, so it needs to be something different.
4.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Well with the tariffs on Chinese imports either the us. will pay more or go without. The dementia laden guy has pissed off almost everyone. The us. is pretty much screwed. Oh yea one more thing I here the Chinese hold a whole lot of us. loans.

20 ReplyAmerica will win. America needs China's products until they can bring production back or resource them. However needs America to support it's economy. Trump will negotiate a new trade deal.

One of the issues that Trump and his advisers seem oblivious to is what Charles de Gaulle coined as 'The exorbitant privilege': The fact that since 1945 the USA has been able to issue unlimited amounts of Federal debt and countries have bought it as the global reserve currency. Erratic economic policies risk the willingness of other countries to buy US Treasury bills. If that were to happen, it would do more damage to the US economy than China ever has,

Well, we won't know how this truly turns out until a lot of time has passed and we can measure how the results panned out.
We don't yet know if this ends up being wise or foolish are just a wash 50/50 in the middle. China has cheated a lot and it is overdue for someone to stand up against them and demand fairness and for the WTO rules to be followed.
Too early for any winner/loser to be named.
