To the woke mob, does a "dad bod" mean embracing fatherhood and prioritizing family or is it about body shaming?

In today's culture, where the woke mob pushes ever-changing beauty standards, the concept of a "dad bod" has become a target for ridicule and disdain.

But let's pause and consider the essence behind it. A "dad bod" often symbolizes a man who has shifted his focus from personal aesthetics to the responsibilities of parenthood. It's about choosing to spend time with children instead of tirelessly hitting the gym.

Now, imagine if having a "dad bod" represented a conscious decision to prioritize family values, just like one makes a conscious decision to take gender affirming drugs. Would the woke mob still scoff at such a figure, or would they recognize the nobility in sacrificing one's own body image, in much the same way a transexual sheds the skin of their former gender? And why are dad bods not shielded from unfair treatment like pregnant women?

If anything, I just see women claiming they prefer dad bods to the shredded look. Then their example photo is just an off-season bodybuilder at 12% body fat, lmfao, so I think what they THINK is a “dad bod” ISN’T.

But I’m just saying I don’t hear a lot of “if you have a dad bod, don’t even talk to me.” Are they writing off REAL dad bods? Maybe. But my point is I don’t hear them specifically ripping “dad bods” by name, they praise them, however misidentified they may be. I think they call an ACTUAL dad bod “out of shape”, but they’d decry being out of shape, specifically.

To be fair about it…. I think women, on average, are letting A LOT slide, from a men’s aesthetics standpoint, lmfao. And meanwhile men won’t even look at a woman as a possibility unless she looks like she’s at some minimum beauty standard or better.

So I think dudes are still winning, in the game of “who’s under more pressure to look good?” It’s just so built-in with women that we hardly realize it, like their own personal day-to-day maintenance has to be a borderline hobby. I can’t imagine rolling out of bed early to give myself time to do make-up, holy smokes. That SUCKS. I have long hair right now…extra maintenance, and it SUCKS. I put a lot of effort into my appearance, but I can still get dressed in minutes.

And when I do it, I’m such an anomaly vs other guys, I get all kinds of fanfare. Like I can be in shorts, a t-shirt, and sneakers, and just because it’s all color-coordinated and I have a certain pair of shoes to match it, tons of people act like I just walked off a modeling runway in Paris…. because the bar is so low, lmfao. With women, if you don’t put in what’s considered a strong effort for a guy, people would think you were a mess, because the bar is conversely so high.

Anyway, I’m just saying many things lead to people letting themselves go physically. Some of those things are “reasons”; other things are “excuses.” And I’m not here to judge anyone either way, but I would at least mention that people LOVE an excuse. That said, I appreciate wanting to be a good and present father to one’s children, and I also appreciate the time consumption that comes with parenthood, probably more than I even realize as a non-parent.

It’s true, I couldn’t live the lifestyle I currently do if I was a dad. My workouts would be much shorter and maybe non-existent. I wouldn’t be able to play hockey as many times per week as I get to. I get it.

I guess I’d just submit that the gym is really only 20% of it, so much is dictated by diet, and the simple science of caloric intake vs expenditure, the quality of calories consumed, and the amount of metabolic interference caused by sugar consumption. So even if you can’t go to the gym, a dad bod isn’t an inevitability.

It takes me 20-30 minutes to bake a frozen pizza, or 15 minutes to broil a piece of chicken breast and either air fry or microwave some vegetables in that time. It’s nighttime, I’m done actively burning calories for the day, so I don’t need carbs, so there’s no rice or anything like that. Meat and vegetables. 15 minutes.

And there’s barely any prep. Sprinkle Cajun seasoning on the raw chicken; cut open the bag of vegetables, either before the air fryer or after the microwave. Drink water, not juice and soda. Seltzer is cool if you like the fizz, like I do. Don’t drink calories, as a general rule, unless it’s a protein shake or something of that nature.

But it’s like 25 minutes for DiGiorno. So that’s a no-brainer. Quicker AND healthier. Derive happiness and satisfaction from something other than food. Food is for fuel, not for fun. It can be fun sometimes, but never lose sight that it’s fuel first.

And dad duties unfortunately don’t burn as many calories as working out does, no matter how much we try to talk ourselves into it. You weren’t pouring sweat, so you didn’t truly exert yourself. And that’s fine, that’s your desired lane, but the trade-off is that you gotta make the pizza and burgers and buffalo wings like a once a month thing, once a week maybe, TOPS.

Or you don’t “have to” do anything, but science and human physiology are a reality, and we’ll always be slaves to it. We can say what we will, wish for whatever we want, but the reality is that if you’re mostly sedentary, then you probably aren’t burning more than 2,000 calories a day at rest and without deliberate cardiovascular exercise, so you can’t eat more than that, or else you’ll end up out of shape.

Don't know if this is personal to you, but to maybe you, and certainly anyone else, fix your diet and worry way less about working out. Do both, ideally, but if you told me I could only do one or the other, I’d choose healthy eating habits. No fat to burn off if you don’t put it on in the first place, haha

Anyhow, body shaming obviously isn’t cool, no matter who the target is. In some senses I think the body positivity movement is great, in other ways I find it enabling and negative. Probably a balance we can strike where we accept people as they are and don’t bust their balls, but also don’t whistle past the graveyard with unhealthy choices that carry real health impacts, no matter how we “feel” about ourselves emotionally.

This time they are trying claim ownership of sloth and a lack of discipline to celebrate slobs getting fat as some badge of honor while they attempt to blame the "Woke Mob" for body shaming these virtuous men for their 35% body fat.

Good fathers do not have to be flabby and out of shape. They can take the initiative and make an effort to stay in shape. It just means that they are lazy and unmotivated.
I do not understand why Elon is so out of shape. He was going to fight Mark Zuckerberg and I was surprised at this. He could easily afford healthy food and personal trainers and his own private gym.
