What level of hypocrisy is it that Americans are anti-immigrant?

America is not anti-immigrant. It's pro rule of law, which is a core trait of classical liberalism. Classical liberalism is the political ideology that influenced the writing of the constitution which clearly states Article I, Section 8, Clause 18 that Congress has the power to make laws dealing with foreign powers which grants them almost total authority to decide if foreign nationals may enter or remain in the United States. Additionally the constitution clearly states in Article IV, Section 4 that the United States shall protect each of the States against Invasion. Thus, Congress makes to laws on who can come here and who can not and the President delegates his authority to agencies under his command to enforce those laws. If the laws allow foreign nationals to immigrate in a legal way, then the under the President's authority visas are issued to appropriate candidates. If the laws restrict illegal entry, the President directs his agencies to detain and deport those individuals that have broken the law.

Additionally the United States didn't illegal immigrate to the North American continent. The colonial powers (i. e. Great Britain, France, Spain, Russia, China, various Asian ) invaded territory and colonized it. It was the United States that threw off the chains of the colonizers and declared Independence.

@msmissydc laws no because they didn't have a central government. But way of life? Yes, the way of life the Native Americans lived by was waring, killing, taking slaves and capturing territories. Pretty much the same way of life as all humans lived back then. If you don't have it, your going to have to go to war to take it from someone else, if you have it, your going to have to go to war to defend it.

Hell the only reason the first settlers didn't get killed on site was because that tribe was getting destroyed and pushed back and they had hoped for help.
