Women often believe men stopped women from doing anything and we’re so evil for it. We abused them etc.

You can find videos from 1960s/1940s where women would openly say they didn’t want to work and they’d rather listen and be submissive to their man.

Modern society has really made it seem like men are so evil like you couldn’t make money being sat at a desk in front of a computer all day - life wasn’t that easy back then.

As a gender oppressing another? Or course we did not.

Anyone with even a cursory understanding of history would grasp that.

The general voting history of the world follows the same trend.

Step 1. No one can vote. Gender does not matter.
Step 2. The most powerful, Royals and nobles can vote. Gender does not matter.
Step 3. The wealthiest are added. Gender does not matter.
Step 4. Some conditional concession is made, e. g voting rights for going to war. Gender matters based on condition.
Step 5. Men get voting rights.
Step 6. Women get voting rights.

Most people who claim men oppressed women tend to skip all the other steps. My own country Sweden saw about 900 years of men and women being oppressed (since we went from norse to christian as before that both could vote.).

We then saw about 12 years - out of which 8 were mandatory legal failsafes, until women could also vote.

While most countries will not be so extreme even the US which lags behind sees 75 generations (Christianity baseline) of neither men nor women voting then 1 generation of men voting before women get it too.

Wrapping our heads around the fact that your father, mother, sister, brother, sons and daughters are not oppressing you should not be a novel concept. Realizing that it is usually a ruling class, and that even if a man rules it does not make men a ruling class, seems difficult to grasp.

Furthermore pretty much all of the world has had no issues with women in power. Some of the absolutely mightiest and most oppressive royals of Europe were queens.

We can argue Christianity, due to its patrilineal structure, oppressed women but only a handful of people in Byzantium serving the emperor wrote that. And it was done to, lets see, make it easier to rule people.

Of course men did not oppress women as a group. This does not mean that women, and men, were not oppressed. But blaming a victim that you were also a victim is silly.

It has been biology that has oppressed women. In particular muscle mass.

Prior to WW2 there weren't that many jobs that did not rely on muscle mass. Not that women didn't work but they did lighter tasks by and largely. Men would reap wheat with scythes and women would follow tying the wheat into stooks.

There is revisionist feminist works claiming that women hunted and once bows and arrows and spears there was no impediment to women hunting other than nasty men suppressing them. Of course more muscle meant longer spear throws and heavier bows and longer arrow flights.

One highly laughable feminist claimed that women could balance a baby on her hip as she ran down game. Quite clearly had no experience of hunting and seeing how fast disturbed game will run for the hills.

Another claimed that Australian Aborigine women hunted and snakes were mentioned. Not a great idea with Australian snakes and yet again another feminist with no bloody idea.

Up till post WW2 it has predominantly been biology that has suppressed women. And things changed rapidly after that has ceased to be such a factor.

Women were not solely oppressed. Men were as well. Even heading towards modernity, in the 20th century, women wanted to stay at home, be submissive wives, or work easy jobs. It was a minority of women that fought for women to be "equal". There was no oppression. Not in the USA.

Women couldn’t vote, couldn’t own their own property, men used to be able to rape their wife without any repercussions, they can’t control what happens in their body. I can go on and on. How are those things not oppression?
