That might be your experience, but it isn't for every child. I raised 2 sons. Both ate like crazy during their teen years. We joked about it, but our kitchen always had plenty of food and they knew they were welcome to have whatever they wanted, however much they wanted. If you're saying that parents can't be trusted to care for their children, then you should just be advocating for every child to be taken at birth because a parent that can't provide the most basic care (food) certainly isn't providing the more difficult things (time, attention, affection). My advice, don't assume your childhood is a reflection on all parents.

realistically if I would've been able to choose anything I wanted to eat, it would've been cheese, berries, a cup of milk, some steak (kids love red colored food. ask them). not a damn cheese sandwich with a bowl of tomato soup with crackers in it. when my nephews visit me, they see bananas on my table and ask me for bananas. not a can of coke or a tablespoon of white sugar
