Should Trump end Planned Obsolescence Policy?

Obama administration kicked off the effort to make disposable junk, in effort to recover from the "great recession". It's one of the most environmentally disasterous policies in the planets history as it drove the consumption of junk products from asia into the landfills, through the debt ridden hands of USA.

Should Trump end this policy, should we go back to "make quality last"?

I recently heard the story from a leader saying when he grew up, there was one towel and one bar of soap and everyone shared it. 1968 Volkswagen Beetles still run... 2007 Nissan Muran's are in the garbage dump. We could go back to quality, at the cost of abundance. It be easier on the planet, harder on careers/jobs.

My 1988 refrigerator was still running in 2005 and would keep going, maintainable. the new ones are not affordable to do so... by design. That's fixable... if we want to.
Keep drinking your starbucks coffee out of disposable cups rather than reusable ceramic.

all have to do is design fridge with replaceable exterior panels and make parts affordable, then get one fridge for life. why waste all the energy digging up the planet to make new ones unless need new features? etc etc.. we are terribly wasteful society, has nothing to do with "him".

President Trump had fixed the dribbling shower heads and the toilets that you have to flush 3 or 4 times. Also eliminated the ban on incandescent light bulbs. I think that making major appliances that can be repaired is the next step in improving consumerism in the country. I guess just the fact that more items will be made in USA will help as well.

Your statement is of course wrong by, as others pointed out, about 100 years.

Beyond that, Trump does not possess the power to enforce a quality over quantity change. However if he did have that power, he would not be willing, it would of course be good for us.

The need to sell new products is unfortunately difficult to move away from.
