Among the great men, what place do you give to Julius Caesar?

Its hard to rank people quite frankly. Julius Caesar was pretty much the full package though, both great in civil endeavors and as a military commander. However I do have to deduct some points for the fact that he got himself assassinated, as that is a definite example where he obviously miscalculated.
I guess I would put him between 5 and 10, maybe around 7th. Definitely lived a life that is more fantastical than a fantasy novel but at the same time the competition is stiff at the top.
It’s hard to compare apples to oranges when it comes to these men
Context is different for Caesar, Alexander, Napoleon, etc…
But I do think Julius is in the highest tier of leaders and influential men in human history
It’s not random that every leader, big or small, will always compare himself to Caesar
He definitely had a massive impact on history as a general, statesman, leader, politicians etc.
He lived in a period 2000 years ago that produced some of the most famous people in history in the space of a few decades. Names that are remembered to this day. Julius Caesar, Caesar Augustus, Cleopatra, Mark Anthony, Pompey, Crassus, Spartacus, Cruxus, Nero, Sulla, Marius, vercingetorix, cassius, brutus, King Herod, Cicero, John the baptist, jesus christ etc.
i actually dont like him that much. he was a megalomaniac dictator that destroyed the kinda democratic gov. he subjugated large territories in Europe which is admirable in a way but evil. he deserved being stabbed

In a world population of perhaps 150 million, it was easier to stand out than nowadays.
I might have been ''Great'' myself if I lived back then? For different reasons, though.
Thus, I place him close to myself :D
Where - no one could have an interest to stab me. I'm nice :P
He was a monster who destroyed civilizations for his own ambition. He even destroyed the Roman republic. He deserved to die and does not deserve to be celebrated. But emperors naturally want to be like him.
Why are all the great men of antiquity always butchers? Is it any wonder we have problems with men today when we hold up people like Julius caesar as role models.
Diogenes wasn't a ''butcher''...
Well he invented the full stop and made writing more readable. If it wasn't for him, there would have been wars over misreadings of diplomatic messages.
So he is right at the top for his work on world peace.
I'd give him the same rating that Brutus gave him. What was great about him?
1. Augustus would have been number one but his dumb ass invented divorce. Before him we just killed the bitch.
Hitler is 3. Jesus 4 Thomas Jeferson is 5
Among the 10 greatest leaders in history.
But the greatest was naturally Genghis Khan.
He was definitely a big man, but Marc Anthony is a character that interests me more.
He's in the top 50.
He ranks 45th on my list. :)
Right up among the greatest.
He eas the first major Roman Emperor
5th.
