Didn't follow the link, but loosely speaking, it's not about rights. The US is a nation that was fundamentally built on immigration throughout its entire history. To reject it now is basically to reject a founding characteristic of the state.

Like obviously it's complicated and ideally you don't want a ton of illegal immigration just because of the various societal complexities and potential problems, but I do think that immigration is very core to our national history and should generally be embraced rather than vilified.

If we are going to criticize illegal immigration, then I think the first step is not to look at current immigrants, but at our collective and individual roots and how we should expect the nation as a whole to take accountability. After all, pretty much every non-native person came to America without invitation from the people originally occupying the land.

I think it's also important to maintain a degree of empathy for immigrants of all types. The choice to leave your homeland, even under beneficial circumstances isn't exactly easy. I think the majority of people would prefer to stay put if their circumstances were better. Suffice to say, I think that international humanitarian aid is a much better solution than deportation. We ought to work with the rest of the world to help other nations become safe and prosperous enough that people don't feel the need to leave.

wow and she is a black woman! the liberals today would go absolutely freaking nuts over this lol

i agree with her. just wish it was still like this and people were able to speak their damn minds without getting shushed with "let the illegals in, they deserve it, they don't speak any English at all, but that's fine! give them free housing and free health care! while this American pregnant woman who is about to give birth has to pay thousands and thousands for her delivery! but give the pregnant illegal free delivery! woo! yeah! no need for the illegal to get a job either, just give them money, it's fine! and also, burn the American flag!!!" my god... we have strayed so damn far from helping our OWN people first.

I find it funny when wealthy countries want to close the shutters. It reminds me kids refusing to share toys, while they told all other kids: "Hey, see my nice toys, you won't get your hands on it"

From the perspective of an immigrant, I think immigration can even be a duty, when the lottery that is birth gave them the really wrong cards, who am I to tell them to fuck off? But I'm no gov anyway, and immigration is, obviously, a multifaceted topic. Much too complicate for a Thursday on G@G 🫡

Oh, too late. Tell me about the open borders of the very rich and historical France. Mesmerize me with gallant tales of the slovenly wayward foreigner barely able to crawl up to the border and met with champagne and caviar with those little crisp crackers. Let us hear how they are bathed and massaged and given a fine house on a hill overlooking the canal.

    Nope.

If I went to Mexico waving around an American flag, burn one of their cop cars, and demand benefits because I snuck into their country illegally... something tells me, that would be the dumbest decisions of my life.

But the Democrats are not backing our best here in the States, nor are they looking to get their support.

Dongie, the fact that so many actually think it's good ideas, simply because blinded by their hatred for Trump while ignoring that it's making immigrant (legal immigrant) support surge for Trump, is ACTUALLY balls to the wall (with a stapler gun) crazy.

Dems attempt to make a "Summer of love Part 2: Electric Boogaloo" is not going so well for them. Even with all their media control, too many are seeing through it for it to work. They're losing the people that can vote, for people that can't even vote for them. It's crazy.

    Why should it be?

And if immigration is made into a right, why is refusing an immigrant not a right?

I think immigration (by which I understand a person moving to another country to live there) is not and should not be a right. It should be subject to local requirements. That means if the requirements are not met in part or in full entry will be denied.

If they come as tourists and then betray the tourist visa and stay after the tourist visa's stipulated time I would detain them when caught in a concentration camp until they are deported and black listed so that they would never be able to come back even as tourists.

You have to be harsh and back the law, otherwise they will be more willing to abuse the law and take their chances.

In Europe I wish they would stop immigration and maybe give indigenous European women the opportunity to get paid a little more if they have a baby.

In Asia countries have recently started to do this. They have been offering to pay people to have more kids because there birth rates are falling. I think they should do the same in Europe.

Also I don’t like the idea of immigrants especially from those poor and violent countries bwcause they usually increase crime rates when they come into another country and rely on tax payers money.

I believe immigration also increases races. A lot of people might not want to publicly admit it because they are afraid of being called racist or a bigot etc but I would say it’s likely most people prefer to stay around people of the same or similar ethnic/race of their own.
I’m like this too but I wouldn’t publicly admit this offline. I’m fine with foreigners going on holiday to the country or living their temporarily to study but I wouldn’t like them permanently living there.

I mean I am mostly attracted to men of European descent and it’s normal for a person to want to be around men they find attractive.
I’m not attracted to men of African and Indian/pakistani descent. Also many people from this ancestral background are Muslim and Islam doesn’t belong in Europe. It’s also these people tend to bring up crime rates in Europe.

I haven't viewed the youtube vid, but most countries have immigration limits. You can't just show up and move in, no matter what your situation is.

The Big Picture about immigration is that climate change and unstable governments cause people to leave to seek better lives elsewhere. This has always been the case with humans when we had no borders and no countries. When one place was used up, or the people didn't like who was in charge, they left to make lives elsewhere.

But, now that there ARE borders AND countries, this total mobility is severely curtailed. But people keep on doing what they've done for millennia. Leaving one place for another, despite the risks.

Liberals blame everything in climate change. The oceans haven’t risen at all. A 1% increase in temp a tire won’t cause massive crop failures. We are always warned that in 10 years horrible things will happen but given they have been saying that for literally 50 years, it’s getting old as nothing has happened. Al Gore has 3 large houses and SUVs, climate summits are joined by people all flying in on private jets. Bill Gates recently bought a huge house right on the beach.

We should take care of the environment but this nonsense did not cause mass migration in humans. There are no mass die offs of animals from where those people are from. There is no mass crop failure from where those people are from. And the actions of the wealthy alarmists tell the real story.

@Jersey2 I'm not talking about ocean temperatures, I'm talking about the fact that in some areas there have been temperature changes that are affecting rainfall and crop outcomes.

Look at the wildfires in Canada and California. In the coffee growing regions of South America there has been drought. Some people who were making livings growing those and other crops can no longer do so.

Not taling about anything drastic, but incremental changes have begun to change livelihoods. This is nothing new. And it's not crop "failure." If a farmer's crop is off by 20 or 30 percent, that is enough to eat up profit. With no profit, there is no reason to farm such a crop. So this person is, likely, out of a job.

This is happening bit by bit worldwide affectiing California's wine and fruit harvests, Frances's wine growing and international wine trade etc. These are examples I know.

There has been heavier rainfall that affects crops adversely. Longer storm seasons. Not failure, but deleterious effects.

You name two rich people who are living high on the hog. Are you saying there are no rich conservatives, such as, say, President Trump, who are also living large?

Mar-a-lago is a golf resort. You want to talk about how wasteful golf courses are to maintain and how polluting the grass fertilization is due to runoff and algae blooms? And who does such a place serve but extremely rich people who want a place to play?

Gore, Trump, Gates are all wasteful. It has nothing to do with being liberal or conservative, but of being thoughtless about your footprint.

I think there is a climate impact. Just jot as big as they say. I believe that future technology advances will solve this problem and that the money s-ent on nonsense programs should go to real research. USAID wasted so much money for things like trans operas in Argentina or whatever it was.

The people I mentioned are hypocrites that the Left applauds. Waste must be eliminated and then we can focus money on real research. Doge was a good start but that has been lambasted by the Left simply because of politics. Where the F was Biden on this? So much more waste remains and the Left fights it everyday. Democrats have their worst polling in history now and deservedly so. Don’t expect Gen Z to vote for them, especially the men. Legal immigrants are now against them by a majority of that grouping. All deservedly so.

So yes, it’s a problem. Not as big as some will say. Future technology advancements in energy will solve it. Massive government waste won’t help it though and will weaken our ability to fight real problems. Democrats are on the wrong side of history to use their favorite saying. A dying party. Musk is thinking of creating a new party called the American party that will likely replace it.

@Jersey2 I don't know about "future technology" solving this quickly enough. We are past the temp limits that were the modest goals set a decade ago. And no one wants to sit at the table and hash things out. 2nd world countries and 3rd world countries don't want limits because they want to leap to first world comfort and rightly so. And first world countries need to foot the bills to aid 2 and 3 countries into better footprints. But US is a terrible examplar! It's a wicked problem all around. sigh.

I think it will be solved in the next 50 to 100 years to give a range. I think this timing will suffice as it is a slow moving process. China of course is the culprit in quickly escalating greenhouse gas levels. When Indian comes up economically, they too will create a big spike. Then the Rest Of World (ROW) will become middle class and then things will really get out of hand but that will also force innovation. But we will solve this problem and if there are adverse consequences then they will be rolled back.

@Jersey2 You're a polyanna. Right now is terribly important. I don't see technology solving anything now. We are already suffering, even in the U. S. You're talking about my son's lifetime and if he has children theirs.

This is incredibly unfair and thoughtless on our parts. And with the current administration rolling back EPA standards and ramping. up oil production, how will improvements be made?

No, immigration is a privilege, not a right... in the US and all other countries. Each country has the right to decide who to allow in, for how long, and what rules apply to their entry. Some European countries, for example, require an immigrant to demonstrate that they have sufficient money in the bank so that the immigrant will not need government support.

Depends on the country, for example, countries that need more workers or small population, need immigration. USA obviously doesn't need it.

That's not of any value. So what. These people crossed our border sneakily and illegally. We have laws against this because we want our neighborhoods as safe as we can make them. Some, taking advantage of that idiot Bidens open border, came and raped and murdered children. That's the worst they done. Others sponged off of our funds, and some took jobs for cheap wages, lowering the value of American workers. Now, as we try to clean up the insane democrats mess, they are destroying property, attacking innocent bystanders as well as law enforcement.

Anyone taking their side is un-American.
