The south is the economic engine of the United States. Southerners are 44% of the military. Thus, America's Super Power status is primarily thanks to the South. The south produces roughly 67% of the nations oil. There is a linear relationship between GDP and energy consumption, and specifically oil consumption. So really the United States wouldn't be much to look at if it wasn't for the South. The South carries the country.

I use to live in San Francisco and would never live there again. I went to college at Alabama and LOVED it. I am from Florida and live in Florida and can't imagine living anywhere else. I have no desire to live in a blue state again. Incidentally, those west coast states do not have good education rankings.

Alabama is a freaking poor state with one of the worst healthcare systems in the country!! I read that if California were its own country, it would have the fifth-largest economy in the world!!
